It arrived today, one day early. I got about 20 minutes to play it with my Ghia and Grosh ElectraJet. Whoa. Awesome.
There are a lot of sounds in that box, from subtle to extreme. I'm not one for flowery prose about gear, but I cant see how this wouldn't kick the El Cap off my board. I'm not a huge delay guy, and basically set the El Cap for a slap, and a longer delay using the favorite switch. Those sounds are in the Deco, along with all sorts of chorus, flange, and Echo sounds. The El Cap has more extreme delay sounds, but that's not really something I used. I can see myself using a lot more of the features on the deco - with the favorite switch, I can set it for a thick, chorusy slapback, and then a nice lead delay sound. And, then you can kick in the tape saturation button on either setting for a slight boost/compression/smooth sound. And, if you press/hold the right side button, you engage the flanger sound. Cool!
Also, it seemed like the Deco does a lot better with drives/boosts in front of it. I always had a little trouble putting drives on in front of the El Cap- things seemed to get weird grainy.
Anyhow, Ive barely scratched the surface, but I think Strymon has another hit here.
Looking forward to playing with this over the coming weeks/months.

Man, a lot of cool sounds in that box. Was messing around last night and got something really close to the subtle tape flange on the solo at the end of "We Will Rock You". Good times!
