Hey gang. I always wanted to do a bit of a souped up version of Haggard's Mama tried - so with the extra time during the Xmas season, I set out to actually do it. There's a few electric tracks - all done with my MAZ-18 Jr - all the rythm, fills and solo are done with the same amp. I really like the way this turned out. I hope you like it too. www.shawnlightfoot.com/Mama_Tried.mp3To pay some tribute to the orignal, I kept the solo almost verbatim to the original. Cheers and Happy New Year! Shawn

Great cover Shawn, great pickin'. The Maz sounds incredible, is that a B-bender I'm hearin' or are you just bendin'. I also just checked out your other clips, outstanding! Quick question for you...do you pick with the pick in your thumb and first finger, and pull notes with middle and ring? Or do you use a thumb pick, and pull with your first and middle finger?

Thanks.
No, I don't own a bender, so the bending you hear is just whatever my fingers are doin'.
To answer your other question, I hold the pick between the thumb and first finger, and finger pick with the middle and ring finger. I do not use a thumb pick. Couldn't make it work for me.
Cheers,
Shawn
