ok...here it is...I have a chance at 52 reissue tele (2012) extremely clean...even for my les paul std...that does not nearly see the light of day my teles and strats do...shop said yeah I would do straight across....

I don't keep things that don't see the light of day. Not even for the what if scenarios .... If you change your mind some dude might swap you the Tele for another LP .

That's a judgment call I'm glad I don't have to make. I love playing my LP but I also feel you about not using a guitar and it's just sitting there idle. Someone should be playing it. Some RI hold value well but given the current direction of Gibson I'd be hard pressed to let go of any nicer LPs b/c finding another one you bond with will probably cost you more down the road. Good luck with your decision and enjoy whichever instrument you decide to plug into your Z.

that is not a fair one to one trade. you could sell the LP outright and get enough to outright to buy the tele and have cash left over. especially with the way prices on lps are going that shop is trying to pull one over on you. no used non custom shop tele is worth as much as a used lp standard.

52 re-issue sold here in Canada about a week ago for under $1000 in a big box store. In my neck of the woods LP standards are around $1500

Used LP Standards with a decent top sell for $1600 - $1800 here , FWIW.

plain top.....I bought right before they started adding some figure to them.Plus all the groovy colors.Bstds Yea the brakes are being applied at this time due to all yuz guys helpful feedback...

Common practice at reputable guitar shops is to give a customer 60% of the current value of their instrument in trade.
