I was just pondering one day....and thought, "What would a KT-45 sound like through a 4x12 of Celestion Blues...besides being REALLY FRICKIN' LOUD?" ;D
Any thoughts? Maybe a Gold would be a better fit?

4 Blues would only be good for 60 watts. I bet they'd sound great right up until they blew! A good rule of thumb we used to go by is to use speakers with twice the rating of the amp you're using.

Right now the two speakers in my 45 combo add up to 60 watts (2x G12H30s). I've dimed the amp too and no speaker problems.

The AC30 and Stingray/Stangray are both rated at 30 watts and seemed to handle a pair of celestion blues perfectly! I'd still be wary though of using the KT45 into a quad of celestion blues, especially turned up with a booster pedal into the front end. It could be a real expensive experiment considering the 45' benches more than the 45 it suggests. Myles might be the one to ask. he seems to really love celstion blues. 30 watt Weber alnicos could be a better option.

That's true. I have an Airbrake and I never run it on 0 (I usually set it at 3, but that may still be to loud for my gigs) nor do I dime the amp anymore so I wouldn't think I'd blow them out. I was just curious if it would be a good tonal matchup.

I think if you ran the amp with the airbrake like you say then the sound would be gorgeous. I can't wait to get myself a KT45 so I can have some cred' on the 45' section of the forum rather than just be another tyre kicker. Its funny you know,I have a maz sr and haven't written one thread about it. It' a really nice amp, I bought it for versatility and when I got it was waiting forever for a KT45 to come up on Ebay and 1 never did. I didn't have the patience to wait any longer and needed a good all rounder so I took the plunge and bought the Maz instead. No regrets, its a very nice amp,has lots of marshall, some Fender and a little Vox in there but to me nothing beats being as individual as you can possibly be. I also have a carmin Ghia, but that's another story in itself. Anyway, I'm just assuming, the KT45 will allow me to tailor my sound in a variety of directions. I think it will get that big rythm clang like no other, have a nice big fat tight clean like my favourite fender twin with the right speakers and sustain like Dave Gilmour wailing away to the likes of "Comfortably numb" with a good germanium treble booster.
I can't wait to join the 45' club guys, thanks for letting me hang out here drooling for so long.

If you're lookin for the Gilmour sound, check out the BSM Orange Booster. I have their Rangemaster and Fuzzbender. The OC76 transistor is smoother than the OC44 from the Range. Humbuckers + RM + KT= Grind City!

now that they are available you could try the alnico gold's, rated at 50w. with the gold's you'd just need a 2x12. i have thought about the gold's myself, but thought they might be too clean sounding. i am leaning toward the G12H heritage in a 2x12 closed back cab, but am a little concerned that 60w may not be enough for the KT-45. i guess a safe default option would be a 2x12 open back with vintage 30's. the vintage 30's sound great and are a lot cheaper than the heritage or the gold's.

I'm getting a single Gold 1x12 cab for my SRZ, and I will definatley try the 45 with it. Tone Report also said a Gold/G12H30 combination is amazing.

You could do this and not have problems for the most part.
Remember ... the first 100 watt Marshall heads drove a 4x12 cab loaded with 15 watt silver Vox bulldogs and if you did not play flat out it was pretty reliable and sounded amazing.
I would go with 4x12 blues in an instant if I could afford it.

I've got a Blue and a G12H30 in my 65 cab and I like that combination a lot. It wouldn't handle a KT-45 though, or a SRZ 65.
