I have been reading on this board for a few years. Got a great deal on a used Maz Jr Head about a year ago and I am totally stoked on it. I had been going back and forth between an old Twin Reverb and an AC30 handwired for a few years. I have owned some great amps (vintage and reissue fender and vox) but this is my first boutique amp and I am very happy with it.
I think the Maz combines what I like about all of those amps and gives me a much more manageable level while quickly letting me dial in a great sound. Right now I am using the Maz with an Avatar 1x12 with g12h30 and I don't think the Telecaster has ever been happier!
I am thinking about swapping the g12h30 with one of the blues in the vox, but that will have to wait until I can stop playing the Maz.
Just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the valuable info I have been able to read on these pages.

Welcome to the forum! Lots of great people and information here. Start picking out your next Z. They're like potato chips. You just can't have one.

I echo Bill's welcome! You've got one of Doc's most popular amps - you've already heard the reason why!! Like Bill says "they're like potato chips!" Only they sound better

Welcome and congrats on the MAZ.
I maintain a settings chart that some have found to be helpful. If you'd like a copy, send me a private message (PM) and include your email address. There are many, many tones in there!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I was pleasantly surprised to see a welcome from the good Dr. himself!
I would post a picture but the amp is missing it's Z. I put in an order with dr z sales for a new one so no one will have to wonder when they hear it. It's probably a pretty common looking one with black tolex and cream nobs and piping. And it has the 20th anniversary badge on top.
I sure am happy with it. It is the only Dr. Z i have played but it is a great amp! And I don't think 18 watts ever sounded so loud!
Thanks again everyone. It seems like you have a really cool community here.

I think you all were right. This is some kind of addiction. I have been having fun with doctorice's settings chart and getting some sounds I didn't expect. It really can do a lot. I have really been liking the "American Roots" settings with my telecaster.
Now I am thinking about selling some of my other amps to make way for another Z or two. I have really been surprised at how low some of the prices I have seen some used Z's listed at. Can anyone point me in the direction of a comparison of the amps so I can get a grasp of the differences? There is no where to play them around me and as I read the descriptions on the Dr's website I get lost.
Thanks for all the help/tips. I got my replacement Z and some silicon glue so hopefully I can get a proper picture up here soon.
Chris

You might want to take a listen in the sound clip area - good way to introduce yourself to th different tones of the various Zs. Also Doc's demos on most amps ialso help a lot!
