damn Man, I'm so glad you didn't sell your Monza. Really, really enjoyed that! The lean-ness made it very captivating. I SOOOO DIG the Monza!
LOVED the ending segment with that little cutie-pie! Your baby girl, I assume??? Dig the music behind her vid...reminded me of some of the Beatles' background "music!"

thanks you guys...the little one is my one and only daughter Ellanor Sunbeam...a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich has never tasted better and that's great advice Jimmy. Maddog thanks for keepin' me on the straight path with the Monza. I think a little more time with the Gold will make me realize how wise your advice was.
really glad you like my little tune at the end.

Great video!! Just great! How old is the little one? 2 1/2 or thereabouts?? I have one at home almost exactly the same, bless her It's funny, but I'm so glad I listened to this video - it makes me realise firstly how great the Monza is, and secondly how much I don't really like EL84 amps overdriven! A strange dichotomy, but I love the tones of 6V6 / 6L6 amps so much more, yet the Monza is a fantastic example of a truly great EL84 amp

Nice touch and woman tone. There's some cool simmer you have going on. Kudos on the fingerpicking, too.

Beautiful tones and a beautiful little girl! The recording sounded great and reminds me that I really have to put up a vid sometime if for no other reason than to force myself to focus on something other than the mundane practicing of stuff that I practice all the time.

I'm not 100% comfortable with it at all times either and would love to try a Remedy or Therapy. The Ghia has a rounder tone when cranked and I absolutely love it, so I thought maybe it was partly the different rectifier in it making it a little brasher. But the gold is seeming like a nice match with the Monza and I was thinking maybe some different tubes (NOS) might round the tone a bit. If the Monza was my only amp I'd be ' looking ' but it's not and the Ghia scratches EVERY itch I've got musically. Strangely the Monza has an allure to her that is like a demanding woman and I just can't quit her

Strangely the Monza has an allure to her that is like a demanding woman and I just can't quit her I like your thinking! My experience of Z amps is very similar - they all have a very individual "voice"; and sound if you will, which is sort of unique to each particular amp. I know that sounds obvious on one level, but it's more than just "that's an EL84 amp" or whatever. Their voices are very articulate and distinct, but often it's just the one voice, so for versatility, we often get more than one amp! But every now and then, one of them becomes that "if I had to live with just one amp for the rest of my life, it would be the XXX" - and the great thing about the Z world, is "that" amp is different for almost everyone! For me it's the Therapy, period. It has definitely usurped both the Z28 and Remedy to that spot. I just can't fault it - for MY needs and tastes. I do think though, that the Z28 fits that "feminine allure" you speak of, for me Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this Monza thread..... opps!

Don't be sorry Pete, the Monza section needs some Hijacking !! It gets cold over here and lonely sometimes The Ghia is my Tropical Island amp. I love the Monza low end but don't always love the high end. I love the Monza just breaking up and for solo's it's great, but not as much for chords at higher gain. That really just shows that I'm not a high gain guy, but the Monza with the MV is a great home amp and I'd love to sit in at some blues jams with just it and my LP. 6L6's tempt me, previously I was a 6v6 guy I thought with the Divided by 13. My Peavey Classic 30 ( 1st tube amp ) had EL84's but the clean channel had more of a Fender tone. The Ghia hipped me out to the fact that I liked some of that Marshal esk sound. I'm like you Pete I didn't grow up playing classic amps I'm just guessing at what I liked. I bought the Monza because I saw a Z Fest video with it when it was called the Ghia GT and I wanted the Ghia tone but more, and I heard PCNS talk about the fuzz tones it had in one of his videos. I'd just keep it cranked with everything on 10 and play that fuzz sound if it didn't have so much speaker noise at idle or with the guitar volume rolled down. I'll make a video soon but the Monza has some Ghia qualities to the tone but it's a sharper sound and more raspy than my Ghia cranked up to 3 o'clock. That's why I think if I find some nice NOS tubes and play around with the 12AX7's I'll get to where I'm hoping. Because in a lot of ways the Monza picks up where the Ghia leaves off but it would be a hard amp to gig with doing covers because it has a sound and like I said that old gal just says 'Deal with it' and when I do I always leave with a smile. Women huh?
