Bumpin' to see if anyone has any play time with the PRS Studio or 408 models ..... not that I'm looking cheers always, Joel I haven't tried the studio, mainly since I already have a nice HSS guitar and I don't want to tempt myself with something that's more expensive. I HAVE tried the 408 though and that's the model that really made me interested in getting myself a PRS. The pickups are really nice for what I like in a guitar. They're articulate, have a good bite when driven and the split/tapped switching on them is really useful since there is very little volume drop. I would be very happy with one as my only guitar, it just turned out that I liked the one I bought just a bit more than any of the 408's I tried. Then again I think I would've been happy with just about any of the singlecuts I tried as well, but I do like the split tones that other PRS guitars have. BTW, I thought of you the last time I checked out 12th Fret's used page - they have a 2007 SC245 goldtop singlecut for $1200. I hope I'm not tempting you unnecessarily.

SC245 has adjustable height but not adjustable saddles In addition the bridge has set screws at the posts to intonate for different gage sets. Works well. The 245s I have all set up with great intonation with this simple system. Ed

now here's a thread I NEVER would have believed I would post in........... but, never say never! Here's a little workmanlike ax I got a couple of weeks ago, and I'm loving it! A little hottie for sure, it's like an SG that Gibson should have made...... with the looks of a double cutaway LP Special. I like the neck - not too big - and the scale length is not an issue. This thing ROCKS, but with the coil taps, it is surprisingly versatile (it's an S2 Mira btw)

What's your favorite PRS and why? Trem or hard tail, single or double cut away? If you have one post a pic I'd love to see it. SC-245. I like the weight, feel, hardware, pickups and over-all size ... pics to follow in the near future cheers always, Joel

I really liked playing my McCartys. This was my main one. I think it was from '93? I'm probably wrong about that. It was one of the first batch of McCartys. My bandmate Andy York had just got the job (that he still has) playing with The Coug so we had gone down there to the factory to see some guitars. I liked this one that Fogerty had sent back. I asked them for a special set of pickups that had 100 less winds than the lowest pickups they had made so far. The finish was super thin and hard. It was a great guitar for the "1 Guitar" gig. They drilled the edges of the compensated aluminum bridge to intonate it for my strings.

The only PRS that I've owned, I bought new in '94. It was a '93 CE24 that I sold off a couple of years ago.

I recently bought 2012 PRS 305. It had been purchased new in 2014 and never played. I got a great deal. I had always wanted a PRS since I was in fifth grade. I ha been eyeing the 305 for years. It has not disappointed. I love it. PRS quality is the best I've seen. Just a solid and reliable instrument. I love it. Too bad the 305 only existed for a few years.

PRS McCarty, Custom ordered, with a 10 top, gold hardware, and dot inlays, I don't like the birds, also has a coil splitting push/pull knob, hardtail. Beautiful sounds, and plays really sweet.

I'm a diehard Paul Reed Smith fan....I love my old Gibsons and Fenders but for new guitars PRS is killin' it lately.... My trio: I can literally take the one in the middle and do everything I need to do in a gig....I mostly do classic rock/modern country covers and it nails it but I can get funk, traditional country (Tele-esque), blues, metal, etc tones from this guitar. The one on the left was my first P90 guitar that prompted me getting my old '64 SG Special a couple months later. The one on the right was my first PRS that I bought on vacation in Seattle back in 2007. It's the only PRS out of the three I've modified. It's a 2006 SE Custom 22. I put in Duncan Jazz/JB for more of a heavy metal tone. The one on the left is a 2007 Korina McCarty with a Braz board. The one in the middle is a 2010 Custom 24 10 Top with their 57/08 pickups. With these three guitars altogether, I can do anything I need to do. I love the tones I get and the 3 guitars cover the spectrum from clean to scream but the one in the middle is the most versatile of the bunch. It has a coil split and does a great variety of tone. What inspired me to check out a PRS was seeing them in modern country - award shows, live concerts, TV specials, etc. I then tried that SE just for kicks in a GC in Seattle and not really planning on getting anything, and flew home with it. Lovely PRS's, guys!

Here is my Stripped 58. Best playing guitar I have. I'm more of a single coil guy though, so she doesn't get played too much.

He LOVES playing my Les Paul Special at home for its feel, but gigs a Strat, clean, neck pup for its tone........ and nothing else!
