Hey everyone! The wait for my Z is drawing to a close...(on week 4 out of the supposed 4-6 weeks... they still haven't called to take the rest of my money yet though!) But here I am with an incomplete pedalboard... I just ordered three more pedals coming my way, but for now we'll talk delay. I already have a Line 6 DL4, which serves me well and has just fine delay. I like the presets and tap tempo, but you can't dial in a quick and easy dotted 8th delay at a different tempo if your drummer gets off time... which unfortunately is a huge problem with the band I'm in now. (probably not for long. Haha) But it has me thinking towards the future as far as that goes. I have seen the Flashback x4 and it has a little three way switch that has dotted 8th as an option AND it has tap tempo. Pretty much a TC dl4. But I don't really need something that big since I already have the dl4, and like some of the other delays a little better on the L6. The original flashback as far as I know doesn't have a way to tap tempo... Since I already have the L6, I also don't necessarily need the option to have a ton of other presets. I have seen the Nova delay as well, and that looks more suitable size wise, and has pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. On Reverb, there are a couple modded ones with an external foot switch to change presets with a switch instead of a button, and I've been leaning towards that lately. However, before I jump on one of these, I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone else knew of any delay pedals that fit the bill? Thanks in advance!

I have two Boss DD-20 delays. On different boards of course. Give it a look if you haven't. Think I got both of mine used for ~$140 each. Another I've been wanting to try is the Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay and Empress Tape Delay. All of these can store presets similar to your L6. I like the Boss unit because it has the tempo readout on the display.

Sorry just reread your post. Just a simple delay that can do dot 8 and tap.
Boss DD-7 (don't let the boss name scare you, it's an awesome delay) Visual Sound Tap Delay Cusack Tap A Delay Or just for fun - Cusack Tiny Tap Delay

Hey, no worries! I'm open to other options as well. I have heard good things about the dd-20, so I may have to look into one of those anyways. Room on my board is filling up pretty quick though. Haha. I know the Empress pedals can do what I'm looking for, but from what I've seen they're pretty pricey as well!

That and the fact that the DD20 has been meeting my needs just fine. And for the price, it's hard to beat IMO. I sold my strymon timeline and went back to the DD20. It's simple. And sounds good. It may not do all the extra crazy effects that the higher priced boxes do but I didn't use them anyhow. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Proboards

+1 to the Boss DD-20 or DD-7.
I have and use both. The DD-20 never leaves the board. The DD-7 goes on when I need two delays at once, or a simple sound.
I have also had many of the higher end delay pedals, but have sold them off in favor of the Boss stuff. I found my DD-7 locally for $60 used. It may be my best bargain yet. Amazing sounding pedal!
Another perk of the DD-20 is that you can add a large knob to the 'level' (aka mix) control and easily blend the mix up and down with your foot. I do this by rolling in a higher mix for the verses and lead lines, then down for choruses to keep the delay out of the way. A $2 "mod" that has served me well for years.

Also, they both have jacks for dedicated tap switch or expression pedal. I use the DD-7 at home, one DD20 on my church board and the other DD20 on my gigging board. Thats good to know. You guys aren't the first who have recommended the Boss DD series to me. I'll have to do some research, maybe try them out when I get a chance. Thank you both for the good advice!

I'm going to recommend the Analogman ARDX20 with the accessory tap tempo pedal like I have. Granted, it is expensive but I think it is worth the cost; especially if you are serious about keeping your signal all analog.

I'll have to look that one up as well.
I just came across the midnight30 effects starry night delay, and I've been looking into that. Good price, and sounds great.

If price is an overriding issue, this is a good choice. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TapDelayI've thought about getting one for a second pedal board or as a backup for my other delay.

I actually HATE to admit this....but the Line 6 M5. It's AMAZING as a delay pedal. That's pretty much all I use it for, and it's cheaper than basically everything else. Programmable, stereo in AND out, Tap tempo, any subdivisions you could possibly ask for.

I've got a Diamond Quantum Leap that you can have set for dotted eighth notes. Also has tap tempo. Easy to use I think and does a lot more than just delay as it also has a Flanger, Chorus and Cone Filter. Plus a couple other trippy things, but it's not huge and runs off 9v

I have the T-Rex Replica. It has a dotted 8th feature and sounds awesome. One of the best digital delays out there. Also has tap tempo and a "brown" button to create an analog vibe. A little pricey but it has been on my board for years.

You can usually pick one up used also.

Wow, that Diamond is sweet. Price still has me iffy, but I'll see if I can find one to try before I buy. I always like to do that.
The M9 is cheap... I want to try one before I go for it. I may have an acquaintance who has one, actually.
Also, I will definitely check out the T-Rex. I have a friend who swears by those, and I've never heard of that one!

I got my Diamond with a trade so the $ wasn't a thought in the acquisition. But it has finally bumped my beloved Subdecay Echo Box off of my board as of tonight to make room for a new pedal that landed. Used is the way to go especially with pedals. TGP is like shopping at the finest pedal store ever....when you're ready to buy check over there first.
If it's not over here of course.

Hi Zach - DC here!
I have the TC-Electronic Nova Delay it's a good pedall with lot's of options even backwards delay that is way cool. PM me and maybe we can work out a good deal for you.
I don't use it much because I don't use pedals much and it has way to mano options for my modest use. It's a great sounding delay and stero out if you need that, tap tempo what not.
Cheers Dixiechicken!

DC here! Yes I did and I sent it today within Sweden where I live. But I might get another delay pedal thats a bit less complex to use. I love my Route66 - three knobs I love my Warmoth Tele - two knobs and a switch Don't get me wrong the Nova Delay is a very good delay pedal Very quiet and very good sounding with lots of cool delays - it's just me -I'm not very good at tap-dancing. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

hey Zach
I've used both the Diamond MLjr and Boss DD-7 pretty extensively for the last few years. The Boss seriously holds its own. While the MLjr's tone and feel are really amazing and accessed by IMO the best user interface for heavy live use in the business, it's ~$200 used while you can find used DD-7s for more like $100. The DD-7 is not 50% as good for half the money; it's more like 80+%. I think it really just boils down to the UI for the most part.
