I just bought a Stangray and had a WGS Reaper laying around and been using it, although I don't particularly like it with the Ray. Was wondering if the 50watt ceramic Weber Silver Bell would be a good choice. Does it have too much bottom end to couple with the Ray's thunderous low end? Thanks for any suggestions and help!

The ceramic 50 watt SB was\is one of my favorite speakers and I had a Ray for several years but I can't ever remember playing the Ray head through the Maz 18 combo with the SB. I did play it through a 2x12 with a 50 watt ceramic Blue Dog paired with the SB but only for a few months until the SB moved to the Maz combo. Not much help huh? My guess is that it would sound great because the Ray was one of my favorite el-84 amps for pure tone and the SB is a great speaker. YMMV.

Thanks for the info. Does the 50 watt Silver Bell have enough midrange for the Stangray?

A WGS Reaper (or any other G12H30 clone) would have to be the worst choice for a Stangray. The 'ray is a bit of a scooped amp. The Reaper/G12H is a scooped speaker. They're terrible together. Absolutely NO mids. All bass and treble. I can't speak for a ceramic silver bell...but anything but that Reaper.
I really like my Creamback M with the 'ray. Creambacks and any greenback (and their clones) are in the same ballpark tone-wise with blues/golds. (yes, I know there are differences) And I really like the 3db drop.
I've heard the silver bell is a little darker of a speaker.

We'll I received my Weber Silver Bell ceramic 50 watt yesterday. I will have to say it is miles ahead of the WGS Reaper for my Stangray. The highs, mids, and low end are just right. Enough of everything but not too much of anything. Lots of punch and clarity. I'm very happy with my speaker choice, and thank you all for your input.
