Hi all - I have a BillM modified Blues Jr. that suddenly drops in volume and distorts. I found that turning the amp off for a few seconds and back on clears things up. Very strange...
I'm running low volume (church band) and am not running the amp hot - no more than 3-4 on the volume and master. The amp is typically only on for an hour or less before this happens, and it happens once and after a "reboot" is fine for the rest of practice or service.
I re-tubed a couple months back and thought that might be the trick, as I did not have the issue again until last evening's practice.
Any insight out there?

I have a 66 Bandmaster that had this problem finally found a cold solder joint under the board problem fixed ... I would start by looking at the board the tubes are mounted to ... not the best construction there but not the worst either hit all the connections with a soldering iron .. good luck !!!

I had the same exact issue w/ my Blues Junior - it was a cold solder joint on one of the pots. I used the chopstick or in my case pencil method and pushed and tapped and pushed against all components to discover the culprit. While I had the iron out I hit up all all the tube socket joints for good measure. Totally an easy DIY repair if your comfortable working inside an amp.
