Seriously? The '28 was first introduced in 2004? Awesome! Then my Z28 is from the first year. At least based on the Serial Number.

This can't be right as my Z28 is a "k" serial meaning from 2000....?

I was wondering, too b/c my S/N is L which means it's first run and I don't think that's the case. Either way, still a kick @$$ amplifier that will be passed on to the next generation.

This can't be right as my Z28 is a "k" serial meaning from 2000....? Everything I saw indicated 2004, owners manual also has 2004. I could be wrong but the reviews posted I believe were from 2004 so I thought I would toss it out there.

My Desert Island amp for sure - one of the Doc's very best designs!

Pretty sure the Z-28 is from (at least) before the year 2000, as it's model #15.. back from around when the KT-45 and 65/45 were introduced (and before the "NR" MAZ's). Nonetheless, it definitely deserves all the praises sung here. Great amp with a great, ballsy voice—one of Doc's finest.

First proto's and very early production Z 28's were from late 2001. Full production in mass 2002. Not sure about the 10 year anniversary from 2004. The company started in 1988, so 1998 would have been the tenth anniversary, the Z 28 was not designed then. The daddy RT 66, as given guitar Players FIRST Editors Pick Award in Jan. 1999, I'm sooo proud of that.

Z Thanks Dr! I was originally thinking that the Z28 might be in its tenth year of production (not the company). I came across my owners manual for the 28' and I saw 2004. I could not find anything else on first year of production. Not surprised it continues to be in production, being one of the best tone machines of all time!
