Thanks to those who recommended the Rockett Animal. Mine was delivered Monday and I've only used it at home (medium volume), and one rehearsal (@ stage volume) With Maz 38 R. Pedal setting I liked (so far) with single coils : volume- just a bit louder than bypassed vol. gain- 12:00 treble- 8:00-9:00 bass- 12:00 snarl- off Pedal sounds great with every guitar I've tried it with (single & hum). The one that surprised me the most (@ home medium volume) was my pre-Fender Gretsch duo-jet with stock Filtertrons. It had the warmest, juiciest, semi-dirty tone I've ever gotten with that guitar. The strange thing is my duo-jet doesn't sound good to my ears with most of the pedals I have. This pedal is a keeper and is replacement for BB preamp that although it sounded very good, I never completely bonded with. I think the Animal and the Wampler Velvet Fuzz are 2 of the best pedal purchases I've ever made. Both came highly recommended by some of my Z-Bro's. Thanks

Glad it worked out for you. I know pedals can react differently to ones gear, but I found that the Animal and Tim or Timmy cover 95% of the tones I am after at low gigging volumes and get even better when it's loud!

I like the Xotic stuff too (own an RC and AC comp) but the BB seems to me to be just another variation on the tube Screamer, although one of the better ones. My Animal settings are identical to yours except my gain is a little higher. I use my Tim for my lower gain pedal.

I run the Blue Note into Animal with the M12 and love them with both singles and hums. Settings for the Animal is Gain 2:00 Level 10:00 Treble 10:00 Bass 1:00 with Snarl on. Love Rockett pedals!
