Wondering if anyone else has this experience.
I use an Analogman King of Tone with a Maz 18 NR. It's a 1x12 combo with G12H-30 in it. The boost side of the KOT never had an enormous amount of boost to it (come to think of it, the OD side isn't that loud either), even when I had the volume dimed, but it was enough for my needs and I liked the overall sound of the pedal, so I never really thought about it much.
Twice in the past few weeks I've had to use an amp provided by the venue. A Blues Jr and a re-issue Deluxe Reverb. In both instances, my regular KOT boost setting was totally over the top and I had to roll the pedal's volume off by at least half.
What's up with that?

The OD (red) side of mine is set at about 1:00-1:30 and the boost (yellow) side of mine is at about 12:00. That puts it a little above unity gain from my clean sound. Are you running a compressor? I know that can affect the volume some. I run a Keeley always on..

I typically have the red/OD side set with the distortion dimed and the volume at about noon. That gives me my crunch sound at just a smudge above unity. The yellow/boost side is usually set with the volume dimed and the distortion between 9:00 and 12:00, that gives me my solo boost. Although I do have a compressor (an Xotic EP) on my board in front of the KOT, it's only on for a handful of songs, and I get the same effect with the KOT whether the compressor is on or off.

My drive setting on yellow side is about 3:00 and at 12:00 on the red side. That is affected by my amp I guess too though. The master and volume on my Maz is at about 11:00-11:30. I definitely don't have to dime the volume on the KOT to achieve a unity gain. It sounds like something might be going on. You might try to plug just that pedal and guitar up to the amp to see if that makes the difference. I had an issue similar to that with a Wampler Paisley drive and had to send it back to get it fixed.

I hit unity around noon on the yellow side with drive around 3. Have to go look at the red. I would say something is not right
