Last song of the gig Saturday night..."thanks for hanging out with us, drive safely, goodnight everybody!" The music stops and I hear the sound of bacon in a frying pan coming thru my IEMs. Turns out it's my amp. Must be time for new tubes! I think I got almost 3 years from the originals. Ha!

Try cleaning the tube sockets first.
While it might need new tubes I recently got rid of the bacon tones by making sure the sockets were clean.

prior to the sizzle the tone coming from the Wreck with my modded Esquire was amazing.

Sounds like power tubes to me.

My diagnosis procedure:
I pulled the tubes and cleaned the sockets, replaced the existing tubes, connected the cab and powered the amp up and all was good. So I let it sit for a half hour or so, powered up. Then I set up the pedal board and plugged in the Tele and let it sit again, all powered up, for about an hour. No sizzle, no hiss. But, in the process of doing that I came across a suspicious pedal board connection so I then disconnected the pedal chain, cleaned and reconnected the pedal board components and all was good. I suspect the noise I was hearing at the end of the gig was coming from the pedal board and not the amp. Back to rock and roll defcon 5.

Carry a set of spare working tubes with you next gig just in case. You'll likely need them eventually anyway. But then I'm proactive to the point of being a little over the top with redundancy redundancy.

That said, I prefer to bring my spare tubes within a second Z head just to be safe. That said, I don't own a Z-Wreck (yet).
