I have the opportunity to grab a Z-Wreck cab with the Gold and Blue for about $1000 is this a good deal?
Also I do not have the Wreck head but am wondering also is it worth it to use with my Carmen Ghia?
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated
Ken

The magic is in the blue and gold speakers. The cab is nothing special IMO. Unless you really like the silver tolex...then it's a more limited cab.
Iv seen them go from 900-1100 bucks. It would sound good with a Ghia.

Thanks Pat...
I've seen and asked about used unloaded 2x12 cabs but by the time I purchase the Gold and Blue, It would actually be more than what I'm able to get this z-wreck cab for or close to it..

I gotcha. The speakers alone are 215 a piece or so. You could maybe find an unloaded cab for 375-450. The red ones seem to fetch closer to the higher end of that price point for some reason. All depends if you really like the silver tolex. I don't personally have a use for the silver tolex as all my cabs are red or blonde...but it will catch a premium for some.

Don't forget the factory priced upgrade for the flamey wood front is at least $250 as well. Keith

The Blue\Gold 2x12 open back is a great combination with the Ghia(better than 2 Blues IMO). I had that Blue\Gold\Ghia combination for about a year before doing some speaker swapping and amp\cab selling. I think the silver cab will look nice with the black head. Post pics when you get a chance please.

That may be the same one... here's what he said: I bought it from a guy in Cleveland for 925 and then I used it last June 1 for a mini gig, and that has been it ( I played my Maz 38 into it at low volumes ). You can call me if you want. Check my feedback. I am a college professor and ordained United Methodist minister. I play in a classic rock band and this cab was too nice for what I needed. Let me know if you want to do something because the auction is live "buy it now."

I always forget how much your tone is reliant on speakers/cab until I get a good (or bad) one. I was on the fence about getting the Z-Wreck cab as I though my Z-Wreck sounded AMAZING... Then I got the cab and was totally blown away. What I thought was amazing before, was nothing compared to how it sounded through the Z-Wreck cab.
Prior to this cab, my favorite cab has been an Open back 2x12 Z cab... I got rid of it about 5 years ago, I don't think I'll be getting rid of this cab!

I think the cab makes a difference. Sure, speakers are the biggest part but the speaker box and oval port is tuned to s different freq. I had and have both right now and can compare. The cab makes a difference. Unless, the one set of blue/gold sounds different than the other set.
Id like to know the R&D that went into the Z Wreck cab. There has to be a reason why the dimensions are a bit different and the oval port. It might be a super simple answer or a complicated one. One thing I can say is that the Z 2x12 cab is THE BEST 2x12 cab I have found. I have played or owned a lot of other expensive ones but the Z's are always bigger and fuller sounding.

I have played or owned a lot of other expensive ones but the Z's are always bigger and fuller sounding. I remember reading somewhere that Dr. Z uses something called Lens technology?? I thought someone explained it to me once as the baffle is thicker (doubled) and cut perfectly, essentially making a 12in speaker more like a 13 or 14 inch speaker. Something like that?? It's been about 7 or 8 years since that was explained to me, so I may have just jumbled it all up

Yeah the z wreck and regular 2-12 cabs both are lens AFAIK.
Not sure the science behind it. I remember asking Don a while back and he told me the goodness is in the speakers and a small portion has to do with the cab.
