Mike K at KCA has some very cool Brimars back in stock. Info on these is at kcanostubes.com/content/estore_details.asp?product=31These are amazing in V1 of a MAZ Jr, MAZ Sr, Mazerati, 6545 and SRZ-65 for a more British rock tone. They are stout with short plates and are much stronger in proper current output than what you see on average with most new production 12AX7 / ECC83 tubes. They will also last much longer than most production tubes so even at the cost they are going to be less pricy in the long run. Form the KCA site .... NOS Brimar CV4004/12AX7 Excellent tone and extremely low microphonics. I love these in my early '70s Marshall 50 watt head. Great choice for vintage and vintage style guitar amps and audiophile equipment. Very similar in tone to Mullard CV4004s but much lower in microphonics. "These sound awesome in my new Judybox amp" David Torn "FYI, the Brimar CV4004 from the first order is in V1 of a Dr. Z 6545 (the "SRZ65 channel). It made a HUGE improvement! Now I'd like another one for my Victoria Vibrolux. Thanks again." Terry Guder "No doubt about those Brimars, they are the most awesome sounding 12AX7s I have ever gotten hold of for these Marshalls. Thanks." Lee Adams. ............................ Terry ............ yup ..... these are great. Saw you had a review posted over at KCA on these.

Hey, that's me!
"Things are going to happen to me now." -- Navin R. Johnson
(Boy, I hope I got that right, it's from the murky depths.)
I dig this tube, yes. In fact, the second CV4004 ended up in V2 of the 6545. I haven't spent a ton of time comparing to other tubes, but I definitely found I've got a happenin' warm and fuzzy amp in that channel. I love the 6545, and I love what I've/we've done with it.
Hey, this tube would be a nice option in V1 of a Ghia, I'd bet.
