Sounds great either way, but Max clean floats my boat.

One man's clean is another man's mean. I set my maz for max mean and clean it up with the guitar volume.

Had to vote clean since that's what I do most. BUT, the MAZ sounds sweet when pushed into meanness!

I go for a bit of hair - AC30'ish, then use pick attack or the guitar volume. Then a Flying Dragon boost to punch it or an OD pedal for more OD.

Mean! I push it into Marshall territory all the time and use my volume knob to clean up a lil.

I think I must be half-way between the two....I'm usually setting the MAZ 18 with both Vol. and Master around 12 o'clock (give or take...) so that rhythm's are still plenty articulate, but getting most of my dirt from pedals. That varies some with the venue, but M and V are usually about even.

Not quite mean, but with a little attitude.

I've only had my Z for a month or so now, still finding my way with it, but I seem to gravitate towards the mean end of it. Volume 1 - 2, master 10 - noon. I voted mean.

I run it clean, however, my plan is to eventually have with an A/B switch and go pedal less...maybe an attenuators for sound balancing and volume control on the mean side. It'll wind up being a lot to carry around but oh so sweet. Maybe mix in a 2x10 cab to tighten up the drive

Mean. V max, MV noon, no pedals, I ride the volume pot from clean to mean.

Clean + pedals for a little push. I've never had a better sounding clean amp!

Ran it dirty for awhile after I got the Maz and it has such a good dirt tone, but had to tone it down since I needed the clean for our songs.
Both dirty and clean are so good.

Really depends where/what I'm playing. At home it's low volume clean (V&M at 9:00) with pedals for dirt/sustain. For gigging it would depend on the venue--I like to get the master volume past noon if possible to get those power tubes cooking a little.

mostly clean with good pedals........i gotta say, i've had this amp for about 2 years and will never get rid of it...after 40 some odd years of many amps, this is the only amp that i cannot get to sound bad.....so i don't think it really matters much....really enjoyable both ways

^^^^^^^ That's me too. Both @ 11:30-12:00. Then low drive settings on the dirt pedals.
