I'm grabbing an "Interstate" Route 66 tomorrow bout 2 hours from the house. It's a green 2000 model and I'm am super excited. I doubt it'll really suit the type of sound that I'm used ot messing around with (usually play a Deluxe Reverb Reissue), but I'm sure I can play with it enough to like it. haha
I just have a few questions:
1. Will the Route 66 work with my avatar cab? Besides the obvious mismatch in color, I was wondering more so about the speaker. It's an 8ohm Celestion Hellatone, which according ot the website is an aged clestion G12H30. It's rated at 30 Watts, and I know the route is 32, so I wanted to make sure that it wasn't too much of a mis-match to where I wouldn't have to buy another cab for a while.
2. How well does it take pedals? I don't do a lot of foot work with pedals, but I use and autowah, chorus, drives and will probably add reverb and a delay later one. Just wanted to make sure she was pedal friendly.
3. Finally, whats a good selling price on a used "interstate" Route 66? I want to make sure I'[m getting a good deal.
Cheers! first time poster.

1. Yes, it will sound great. 2. Very well, better than you think. 3. I think there is one still for sale in BST section for a killer price, 900?
Welcome and be warned Z's are addictive!

$900 is a good deal - less is even better. Those green heads are super cool. I have a green Prescription RX. I posted a picture of it here and another Forum member sent me a note saying he had a matching Z-best. An awesome combination. Cab has two ceramic Weber speakers - love the sound! You can see a picture of the "stack" in the Prescription section.

I have a 66, KT45 and a Z28 (also a Rati); I like all of them. I can tell you that the 28 might be something you should try at some point.

I honestly don't know if I'm feeling the Green haha but I'll go with it for a while. The cab I have is black with a brown baffle cover, so it'll look very.... interesting. It was between this and a Maz 18 NR head, and the Route won out die to the price being about $300 bucks lower. I'll give a full update tomorrow, if I can open it up. I'm super looking forward to it. I have a Gibson SG with retro fit P-90's (sound awesome, bgpickups.com/ check this website out), a newly purchased 2010 Epiphone Riviera (2 Mini humbuckers) and a white Gibson Non-Reverse Firebird (with 2 mini's, the third removed). I don't have a drive at the moment, but will be grabbing one within the next couple of days (got a gig next weekend!).

if you are getting a rt66 "state" for less that 900.00 I say jump on that fast. If you don't like you can always sell and make some return. I have a feeling you won't sell. Only reason I am selling is for financial reasons and it hurts to put it out there. if the Ghia sells first I may remove the 66 from the classifieds

Sold my Deluxe Reverb Reissue to get this amp, and I have to say.... The cleans on it are way better. So articulate and just lush and beautiful. It has a bit of a buzz to it and some an iffy volume pot, but all that can be fixed and doesn't seem to be much of a problem for me gigging it. I'll invest in some tubes soon and figure out how to bias the thing in time. I'll provide more updates as I break her in. EDIT: I got her for a cool $800. I have to say, so far it was well worth it. I just need the matching Green and grey(?) Z cab.

I know I've already asked this, but I want to make sure before I start giggin with this amp. The avatar Cab I'm using (the only cabinet and speaker I own at the moment) has a Celestion Hellatone, which is a G12H 30 just aged by Avatar. The speaker is rated at 30 watts. Do I need to be looking into purchasing a new speaker? I won't be running my high the noon, so I wasn't sure if there was a risk of blowing the amp and speaker if the amp is rated 32 watts vs. a single 30 watt speaker.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think if you are not diming the amp along with heavy distortion or boost pedals, you should be fine with a 30 watt speaker. Not sure why anyone would ever need to dime that amp anyway. Just make sure the ohms match up speaker => amp output jack. Have fun.

I can confirm you shouldn't have any problem with the speaker. Celestion traditionally underrates their speakers as to power handling. I've run 40 watt amps through 30 watt older Celestions (not dimed) without any problems. You proceed at your own risk at that level though.

Congrats on the Interstate! I picked up one a few months ago and finally got to gig with it last night. It's an incredible amp and my only regret was that I brought my new to me Z-Best along too and the cab was so loud that I couldn't really get my Route loud enough (I really need to buy a brake lite!). It's probably the coolest amp I've ever played and if you can turn it up enough you'll be in tonal heaven.
