^^^ Have you tried it with the drive set low (say 8:00) and the volume up a bit (1:00), tone below noon? I use it only as a boost, not as a drive pedal on its own. Similar to the Klon. Thats exactly how I use mine as a clean boost. Its very smooth and transparent. I cannot believe how great this pedal sounds.

^^^^ Same here. Mine's in front of a BB Pre and I really like it on it's own as a boost or stacked with the BB.

Yes. That's what l am saying. As soon as volume is above 11 it hisses and same with the treble control. Tried batteries,my isolated filtered power supply and its own supply all gives same results. I can obviously tolerate some hiss but this is excessive.

Mine hisses a bit, but no more than my Barber LTD SR, which is a super high quality build. Neither hisses audibly once I start playing.

Are these things really that great? It seems to be the pedal everyone is trying to get their hands on? I guess my question is, now that you've had the pedal for a while and the newness has worn off is it still that great or just another OD? And why is it still so great?

Trying to like mine but just doesn,t do it for me. just as its starting to move from unity level its very noisey, yes it adds sparkle at unity and hiss isn't noticeable once you start playing, but cant live with that hiss.

Really they are. especially for the money. One of my friends at GC said they cant keep them in stock they sell like hotcakes. My favorite pedal is the Lovepedal Handwired COT50. I have that pedal on my board right before the Soul Food. I use them pretty much both the same way more for clean boost slightly broken up tones. In all honesty the Soul Food sounds better as a clean boost then the Handwired lovepedal. I dont use the soul food as a overdrive pedal at all just a clean boost but man is it awesome. It also stacks really good with other pedals and can hit the front end of another drive pedal and really enhance it in a transparent natural way. You really cannot go wrong with the soul food.

Just ordered one ... The videos are impressive. let us know how you like it when you get it. Its the best transparent clean boost I have ever ran across. I also like it stacking into another dirt pedal or fuzz. Its a really cool pedal.

I got the pedal a couple days ago and had a chance to try it out through my Maz 18NR and my Ghia. Sounded good through both, but was really amazing through my Maz. I used a strat and a les Paul ... It was great with both. Really a great little pedal, especially for the money. I'll have a chance to try it out this weekend at a gig ... Can't wait!

I like it in True Bypass mode SOOOOO MUCH BETTER with P90s and a Z28. The buffer kind of messes with some pedals and put a blanket over the amp. It's great at what it does though and transparently effective.

On it's own through a cleanish amp i don't really love the sound of the Soul Food, but using it as a boost it's great. I'm currently using it to boost by Wampler Plexi-Drive which i run fairly clean, so when i need a little more gain i kick on the Soul Food and it does its job.

BIG BUMP a year later..... I have one of these Soul Food things inbound as we speak! First new dirt pedal in YEARS as I've been happy with my Xotic stuff, but at these prices, it's worth a punt......... and from the way I'm running my rig these days (very heavy on loading up the front end of a fairly clean amp with lots of clean boost and a little drive, and working the GV to death!) it seems this might add something special into the mix We shall see............

Bringing this one back again as I'm late to the party.
Has anyone here done an in-person comparison win the Klon or KTR? I've seen the YouTube videos and listened with good headphones. Just wondering if they're that close in person.
The Soul Food goosing my Ghia with a greenback is a real blast with my R8. This pedal is still a steal at the ~$75 it's going for new, IMO.

I only have a direct comparison with shane's Rock Your Repaired Amp Klone – sonically, they're pretty damn identical, albeit at slightly different settings. I still recommend the Soul Food to anyone looking for a dynamic, crystal clear and not too thick and gain-heavy boost. It does play damn well with the MAZ, too.
