Greetings everyone! Well, I just joined the ranks of Dr Z ownership yesterday, when my cream Maz 18 jr 2X10 arrived. Wow...this thing is loud! I trolled these forums and giggled at all you "girls" for calling these 18 watt amps "loud!" Imagine my surprise when I plugged my '96 PRS Custom 22 into this thing...JEEEEBUS!!!
I'll find my way around it and get her all dialed in. I'm more of a rock player and my other amp is a Zinky Blue Velvet combo, which is also an amazing amplifier with devastating distortion and has a brilliant clean channel. I suppose that I'm just a sucker for amps with "Z" in the name!
I've trolled enough on here to know that the Hi/Low channel is footswitchable and that the EQ section is also footswitchable and that there is a thread or two on here where some of you are using the Boss double footswitch, which leads me to my next topic...
I ran across a nice young feller on a Facebook page called, Gear Talk. Patrick Garland is his name and he had mentioned that he is one of the many boutique/custom pedal builders in this world. I went over to his website (garlandguitar.biz/shop/category_5/Custom-Gain-Effects.html?sessid=I4zPUIXdDqOKyrQEOA4zABEGWZptyZ3xn1a486sYQLJIoJjkG6qdPA8GvOrzbFr2&shop_param=cid%3D%26), which led me to Youtube (to see/hear what his products looked/sounded like) which led me back to his store page so I could buy a couple of VERY affordable custom boost/overdrive pedals for this Maz 18. I wound up getting his Weapon Boost and the Micro Little Drive.
While anticipating the arrival of my new Dr Z, I began trying to decide what I wanted to do to switch the hi/low and eq...as a more "boutique-ey" guy, I really didn't feel like tossing a giant Boss pedal on my board that only took batteries. I did, however, find a really nice Orange double footswitch (www.ebay.com/itm/Orange-Amplifiers-FS-2-Double-Footswitch-for-Dual-Terror-AD30-Rockerverb-etc-NEW-/271166413861?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item3f22c71c25) but after some thought, didn't necessarily want an "Orange" fs on my board either and the box looked like a big P.I.T.A. for me to disassemble and paint.
So, I messaged Patrick at GGS and asked him if he'd make one for me out of one of his micro boxes, throw one of his awesome paint jobs on it, put LEDs by each switch...and how much would it be... He immediately got back to me (his communication is awesome!) and quoted me a price cheaper than the Boss pedal, so I immediately PayPal'd him the money and I should be getting it and my other pedals some time next week.!!!
I will, of course, post pics when it arrives. I suggested we call it the "Nawty NurZ" because every GOOD Dr needs a naughty nurse...I'm sure this will be a welcome addition to any pedal board junkie/Dr Z owner.
