Hey Guys new here. I have a chance to pick up my first Dr Z and having trouble deciding which one. I have found 2 a 6545 Blonde and a Maz38 Sr Red. Both are good deals and only $200.00 difference. I currently play Southern Rock style /Country. I currently have a Fender Blues reissue 6v6 good head rooom for what I do and a Vox AC15 L84's I really like the Vox better but not enough head room on a AC15. So help me decide! Would the 6545 hold value better sense no longer in production? What say the DR Z experts. Also what you guys think Z-Best Cab or 4-10'S
Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Lot of good information and great people here. I have both amps - I prefer the 6545 just because of the versatility of the 6545. The 45 side is meant to sound like the KT45 - think Hiwatt/ who "Live at Leeds" type cleans. The 65 is SRZ65 more JCM 800 type sounds - strong and raw. Great Rock amp IMHO. To give you an idea of the Maz 38 - listen to any of Buddy Whittington's stuff - usually done with Maz 38. Take a look specifically at Mayall's 70th birthday party dvd - Buddy is using his Maz 38 to blow away the "big" name guitarists. In terms of value I think all Z's are pretty much at the same percentages of initial retail. The resale value is so dependent on timing - if you find the right person at the right time you'll make more off them than someone that doesn't know what they are looking for. Where are you located? Maybe you can get together with another forum member to try them out.
As for speakers - I like the Z-best with these two amps over the 4x10s.

Jag, Thanks for the reply! I have played the 6545 and its pretty awesome. I was just thinking I may like the Maz 38, I believe it has the L84'S and I really like my Vox type sound. Well I don't think I will go wrong with either one. I am down in GA. I have played with one of friends with a Maz 38 I need to get by there and take a closer listen.
Thanks

Look for the Audio section and the Video section - lots of great clips of both amps there! Also I've owned both and I can say they are both amazing amps. I have clips of my own on My Gear Page.

Steve, Thanks! That is one great gear page! Not sure if it made my decision any easier sense they all sounds so great. I guess I will flip for it! LOL Really liked your Hey Joe version under the Wreck tab. I haven't played that song in 15 years so now I gotta go see how much of it I remember
Thanks Again, Ray.

Thanks. I know what you mean about making a decision - they are all different, but they are all the same in that they all sound great. But different. Good luck with your decision.

6545 is the best amp the doc ever made imo. It cobers more ground than anything else around and they dont show up all that often, theres only 68 of them. You can find a maz anywhere at anytime it seems like. Beyond that i have never seen a 6545 less than $1500 in over two years so id say get the goat...

Well I went with the Maz 38 BUT- I am working on a deal for the 6545 too. So I may have gone to no Z's to all in. I posted a question in the Cab forum trying to decide on that now. Thanks -Ray
