I used to have a MArshall cab wired this way...plug into jack #1 and it sent the signal to both speakers. If you plug anything into jack #2, this seperated the speakers...if you only plug into jack2, you only get that 1 speaker...plug into both jacks and each speaker was operating independently for true stereo operation. I think I'd like to wire my 2/12 cab like this...my ideal setup(at least for today ) would be to have a Weber Alnico Blue and a Ceramic speaker together in the cab...my "default" speaker would be the Alnico but if I needed more volume, I could plug into the other jack and use both speakers. So the question is...what kind of special jack do I need to accomplish this?

You only need a switching jack to do this. But remember that when both speakers are active, your impedance is half. So you probably wouldn't want to use 8 ohm speakers if you don't have a 4 ohm tap. As to the jack, see dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T072/0405-0406.pdf and look at Figure 6 which is DigiKey part number SC1089-ND. If you check Schematic B there, you see that the tip shorts to another lug when nothing is plugged in, but when you insert your plug, the short is removed. Use that feature to link the two speakers. Oh, one more thing. If you are driving the two speakers from separate amps as I am, make sure you pay attention to ground lifting on the input side, as the two jacks on your cab will share a ground. You can get some weird sounds if you ground at the speaker and at the input. For what you're doing though, that shouldn't be a consideration.
