I'm running a Blue/G12H combo with my Maz38NR.My Blue is starting to become unraveled. It's getting this weird fuzz on the bass notes. Is there any speakers out there that sounds as good as a Blue w/o costing so much?I don't want to spend $250 on another Blue that I will have a good chance of blowing up.I'm on a budget and can't spend over $150.
Thanks, Billy

You could try an Eminence Red Fang or a Weber Blue Dog (you'll need the ceramic to stay under $150).

If interested I have an 8 ohm Eminence Red Fang here I just pulled out of an amp I sold.
I'll ship it to you for $135 (paypal, s&h included).

I would recone it personally.
It is too good to not fix.

Are the Blues fragile? I know they are only 15 watts but how strict is that? Could you not run 1 12 with an 18 watt Ghia?

I'll let you know Shannon, I stuck one of my Blues in my Jr NR this week, been poundin' the snot out of it at home and it's fine, first gig is tonight. Don runs a blue in his Ghia too.

If you're luck's anything like mine (and I don't think it is after seeing that gold LP) it will work fine until you get half way into the gig.

A Weber blue is a little over your budget but not much and he can do a higher wattage than 15 watts which could help. I'm not sure but maybe he can use a better coil on a recone? Something to look into!

They used to blow at times in the silver version that was used in the first 100 watt Marshalls. Considering a lot of these amps put out 140+ watts pretty easily having 60 watts of speaker handling capacity in a 4x12 cab was pushing things a bit But a celesion Blue in a 1x12 config behind a Carmen Ghia is about as slick as it gets and there are no issues or concerns.
