I've got a ceramic tone tubby on the way that I picked up in a trade. I'd also like to try the alnico. Can anyone who has good knowledge of speakers give me any comparison of what these to speakers are similar to that I might have played/heard? Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Also... can anyone compare between the hempcone and a paper cone? I've heard mixed things about the hemp.

I have an alnico Tone Tubby and it is a great speaker. Seems very neutral to me.

I love the ceramic, hemp Tubbies. Very firm sounding and feeling. They reward you when you dig in hard, but you have to dig in a little harder than other speakers. That's probably due to the tough hemp cone and the big magnets (60 oz., I think).
To me, they sound kind of like really tough G12M's. They have a British Celestion-ish tonality, and with a very musical, neutral frequency response. No spikes in the frequency response, kind of the same as a good G12M type, but louder and bigger sounding.

I have a TT alnico coming in the mail to pair up with my 30w Weber Alnico Blue Dog. I will let you know how it works out.
