Thanks for the heads-up. I'll likely do the same.
Cheers, Blair

Just ordered the Classic Lead clone too! They've gotten some good reviews on some other forums, so we'll see how it goes.

I might order a pair of the Leads for my Z Best I ordered a pair yesterday and I'll try them together in Z-best and then in various combos with other speakers - mainly Eminence. Eventually I'll settle on the right combination! Cheers, Blair

Might have to try one of those out. What's to lose with the exception of $35.

Got my Lead 80 clone the other day and it looked very well constructed when I pulled it out of the box. I couldn't tell much of a difference at all from the celestion Lead 80 that I had previously. All the parts looked practically identical. I pulled the Hellatone 60 (Avatar Celestion V30) out of my 112 widebody Avatar cab and mounted the clone 80. Fired up the Ghia and immediately the annoying V30 honk was gone and I was really enjoying this speaker. It's much more forgiving & even in the mids and has a nice neutral tone that doesn't color the ghia's tone - just like a $120 Celestion Lead 80. It sounded great with clean tones using the RC and then I hit it with some medium to heavy distortion with the Direct Drive and Tube Zone and it stayed good & tight in the lows - unlike the V30 I had in there which when pushed hard got loose & farty to my ears. I have to say that this was a heck of a deal for a total of about $35 bucks shipped! I may have to get 1 as a backup..

Put them in my Z-Best...it is the best I've ever heard the cab sound. And they are not even broken in yet! These are keepers - and a screamin' deal. Cheers, Blair

I must admit I was highly sceptical when I read people ordering on the thread. Now that we have some received and some testimonials I'm very impressed

What's a Lead 80 sound like. (I know...stupid question). How does it compare to a G12H? Is that better?

What's a Lead 80 sound like. (I know...stupid question). How does it compare to a G12H? Is that better? A bit less low end response. But firmer (as you might expect 80 watts vs. 30). The Lead is a bit more "hard rock" than "rock" in my mind. Handles mid-to-high gain better than the G12H. If you like your low-end response in clean ringing open chords, then the G12H is better to my ear. If you like your low end in chugging power chords or dirtier low notes, then I like the Lead 80 better. Or if you just play loud...you may need the wattage of the Lead 80. Just one man's opinion...I don't mind if others differ. Cheers, Blair

Just put the v30 clone from this guy in my Ghia. Even with nmo break in it sounds amazing. No honk, or harshness, nice paired with my Celestion Greenback. Wow! Brett

My uncle bought one. It sounded really nice in his 5E3. Great deal...

i bought one of the v30 clones and compared to a real v30 i actually liked the clone better. it seemed a little less harsh. i paired it with an emi wizard in an avatar 2x12 and i think my period of speaker madness might actually be coming to an end.

That sounds like a real good pairing, bigrandy. I know what you mean about ending the speaker madness. The clones have made me happy. Cheers, Blair
