Has anyone heard or tried the Celestion gold in the Maz 38. I have read other posts and agree the $229 upgrade in expensive.. Of course I failed to mention that I'm interested in placing this speaker in the Sr combo 1x12 NR. Any advice will be appreciated. Thx

I'd like to hear some opinions on this as well. I've read the gold sounds a bit bigger and has a lttle more low end than the blue. True? Does the gold break up as soon as a blue? I'm considering trying one of these in my MAZ Jr.

Yeah, In regard to the bigger sound, I've heard and read the same. Though I'm not quiet sure but I don't think the golds in the Maz Jr. wouldn't break up quickly, but they will give you more head room. As for the Maz Sr, I think it is a really versatile amp. I would like to add the gold as a way of extending the characteristics of the amp. The stocked G12H-30 are basic, yet good. I am in no way belittling them, they good speakers. As for now, the golds are at the top of my list.

My experience: I have found the C Gold to be the finest sounding speaker I have ever listened to. Solid tight low's, the smoothest mids, and sparkling high's. Does not break up as early as the blue. Incredible harmonics and sustain. I cant comment on how it would work in the JR. Is it worth the extra $? In my opinion a resounding YES! I've played the Blue Dog Alnico, the Tubby.
The Gold is GOLDEN.....

It occurred to me later the main reason the Celestion sounds so good to my ears. The fact that it is mounted in the finest amp I have ever owned. The MAZ 38 NR. Must give credit where credit is due. Thanks Dr Z.....

I tried a 1-12 GOLD in a Maz 18 Rverb last night. Just sweet tone! I was going back and forth from the original 1-12's and to the open bacl 1-12 Celestion Gold cab. Both are awesome. But the Gold is what I was looking for. More headrrom out of the maz 18. The Maz 18 just seems even more versitile now.
so...with 2-10....Maz sound... with 1-12 Gold...more Vox..
In conclusion. The Maz sounds amazing with anything I have heard so far....but the Gold is the sound that "I" like the most.
