So I'm trying to make an informed decision on speaker choice. I know I just have to go out and play them, but wanted to see what any of you experienced guys have to say.
I've played through a 2X12 with G12H's and really liked the tone. However, I'm interested in the Celestion Blues because I love the Edge sound and do a lot of that sound in church.
If I had it my way I would probably do the Weber Blue Dog thing, but Doc's cabinets only come with Celelstions, and they are pricey.
Can anyone give me a good comparison between the two.
Thanks.

Well... I have webers version of the G12H30(1230-55) and an Alnico Blue Dog in the same cab - and the thing rocks! I also play at alot of churches - and the Edge thing is my main deal. The great thing about both of these speakers is that you get the incredible chime and super smooth mids with the Blue Dog, and the 1230-55 brings up the rear with the low end and midrage grit. This combination lets you cover a huge range of stuff.
The 30 watt Alnico Blue Dog - I am still breaking this speaker in, but it is sounding better and better. Excellent mids and chime, as to be expected. The low end is not as tight as a ceramic would be, as to be expected with the Celestion Blues.
The 1230-55 I am also still breaking this speaker in. Weber's version is crafted after the specifications of the original G12H30, not the Anniversary Edition. A very nice grit in the mids, and the lows are awesome(making up for the lack of tight low end with the alnicos.) And the highs are pronounced and sparkley.
I am liking this combination more and more. Ask D.weller more about this. He know more about this combination than I do ;D

Thanks Strato. I'd love to go for a 2x12, but I just don't need that much volume. 1x12 is what I'm limiting myself to, but the info is helpful.
Thanks again.
