I was flipping channels this morning about 4 a.m. One of my movie channels was playing the Zep movie. I caught it about 10 minits in.
Since I haven't seen it in over 2 decades.... I decided to watch.
OMG..... Page was/is a freekin' genius on guitar. The melodies/chordal stuff he did w/the 1275 (double neck) were mesmerizing. The way he bounced back & forth from KILLER blues licks, to "prog" (for the time), to flurries, to just balls-to-wall riffing..... I remembered WHY, he is my ALL-time fave.
The tone on some of the first 1/2 hour, was less than impressive, but b/4 it was over..... Classic Page w/a Les Paul thru a cranked Marshall (using the guitar volume) stuff.
Jones & Bonham were locked in, tighter a mouse's ear. You cud tell....They were having fun.
I DEFFly, enjoyed it.

I'd like to see that! I absolutely love some Zep. I watched It Might Get Loud and you can tell he still loves to play and has such a passion for music. I'd love to meet him too.

Heck yeah! In gonna have to dig that one out. I'm pretty sure Page has some alien DNA going on in there, humans can't be that good.

There is a fantastic bit in the middle of dazed and confused in this film where Page goes off on a tangent and Plant sings about going to san Francisco with flowers in your hair and Jones and Bonham are just looking at one another in amazement and are definitely improvising around what the other two are doing. Its just before the violin bow solo.
