Has anyone had experience with these speakers? I've never played through one, but I see it's an option in the 1x12 combo for the Galaxie. Just curious how these sound. Maybe a cool idea for an extension cab sometime down the road.

I saw a lot of amp Co's useing them at the NY Amp Show. Played more than one amp with them there. It's just like Celestion claims, it sits between the G12M and Lead 80 in tone. It's a good sounding speaker, but obviously on the fatter, juicier, darker side of things as opposed to a G12H30 or Alnico Blue.

Hmm... I always thought the G12H30 had a really pronounced bass character and sounded pretty thick overall. Do you think the G12-65 is even darker than that? That kind of makes me concerned about whether or not it can stay articulate at higher volumes and not get muddy when pushed with OD. Did you find it didn't handle those situations very well? I love the G12H30 for those thick syrupy lead tones, but I probably wouldn't want to go much darker than that.

The G12H has a big low end, but a very articulate top end as well. I really like the G12H myself. I think it depends on what guitars and amps your gonna put the speaker with. Some may like it and some may not. The amp that it stuck out with the most for me was a Two-Rock CR Sig. But that's a $5000.00 amp. Nice thick, yet articulate tones. Great clean or distorted. Just a touch darker on the top end than the G12H to MY ear. This is a very subjective topic, it's a tough call especially on an amp neither you or I have played.

I have some originals. I think they sound kind of 'honky' like the greenbacks .... not bad, but not great either. I like the G12H30s the best. I have some G12M -20 reissues that are great !! I almost forgot about those .... too bad 2 isn't enough to use with the Prescription.
