I know this has been asked 1000 times, but hey, what's 1001?
The standard Z-Best (2x12) has been designed to sit vertically. Is this due to the bass porting?
Has anyone tried to see what it sounds like sitting horizontally?

When I had mine... I almost always used it horizontal. For me... it seemed that there was more bass when used this way.

I always use mine horzontally, sounds great with my Maz Sr. and Bogner Shiva. Put some Emi speakers in it and it's never sounded better. I think there is more bass this way, the port is on the bottom of the cab when used horizontally and that increases bass response I believe.

The standard Z-Best (2x12) has been designed to sit vertically. Is this due to the bass porting? On Z-Best purchased ~ 2 weeks ago, the ports are slots in the baffle panel, pretty much the length of a long side. All other variables equal, if the cabinet is "on the long side" you will get more apparent bass simply because both speakers are closer to the floor. It is the same principle that makes sub woofers want to be close to the floor. Those bass waves like the floor.

Totally agree with the bass close to floor, etc, but the port also enters into the picture in the sense that it's a tuned opening which I believe is tuned for 30 HZ
