Hey guys I know it isn't a new argument, reading all the posts in this place, but due to my poor experience:
I'm looking for a 1x12 cab to alternate my Z-best in those place where the last is too loud, and I'm a little in confusion. Like to know if there's something sounding similar to Z-Best, only less headroom and volume. I like Dr.Z speaker's sound from V30 so I want to ask you if I have to look for 1x12 Z (quite expensive) or some other 1x12 but NOT Avatar, because they don't do international shipping.
I'm searching for some constructor that does international shipping or has some international dealer for Europe...
Casazera? would you from Tone Tools ship worldwide? Thanks in advance

Hey Dr. T, see if jeff at www.jdesigncabs.com/ does intntl. shipping. His cabs are very nice and reasonably priced. I'd try a 30 w, weber silverbell ceramic with the rt66........

Thank you, I like Tone-Tools too, but needing a blonde one to match my blonde R66, I must go for a Fat Cat costumized model (429 USD) with an extra-price for speaker & shipping. Consider that here in Italy a Dr.Z 1x12 cab goes new for 550 Euros ( 745 USD ). It's very expensive so I must value if ordering my own spec Tone -Tools would be convenient for me...

I'd just forgo the matching color, and buy the black Tone Tools. I'm not paying a lot of extra money for matching colors.
Black goes with everything. Just ask Johnny Cash.

Uhm... good advice. But I read that black production cabs are sold empty. I think that to have a complete cab you must choose a custom one... Am I wrong?
I'm in confusion about the speaker, a V30 (icluding for the choice a Z 1x12cab) or a Blue? I don't play country so I don't like too many highs...

I thought all the Tone Tools cabs are sold empty?
I don't play country either, but I like the crisp top end. You can always tame a bright amp or speaker with guitar or amp tone controls, but it's really hard to get a dark amp to cut through.
Anyway, let us know which cab you end up selecting, a PLEASE POST CLIPS if possible:) We'd love to hear your SWEET gear!

I tried a Dr.Z 1x12 8ohm with G12H today.
The first impression was very good, nice sounding cab with its own voice, but the surprising thing was NO difference in volume with my Z best!!! Seems strange but I think that this is due to R66 loudness, with both treb and bass at noon, vol at 9, 10, 12, 3, they DID sound about the same level. It was wonderful also hear both cabs voicing togheter, nice rich tone, but this is not useful.
So even if it is a beautiful tool, I think I don't really need it because it doesn't work for me as I was searching for something less loud...

A Greenback has a lot lower sensitivity than some other Celestion speakers (95 vs 100), so it will appear to be much quieter.
I think a lower sensisitivity is what you need in a 1x12.
My 1x12 isn't really quieter than my 2x12-- it just has less bass and doesn't sound as "big"

But not a single greenback. It would blow!

Hi Dr. T The "Tubeampdoctor" in Germany (www.tubeampdoctor.com) offers Mojo cabinets in black, blonde or tweed, empty or with a speaker you select I play my amp (DrzMazJrNr head) through a 1-12 tweed cabinet and a TT alnico. This cabinet has the same size as a 2-10 cabinet for better bass response. The cab is not heavy and sounds fine. Another dealer is "Pro Guitar" in Germany (www.proguitar.de). I bought the empty cab and loaded it with the speaker of my choice. Another interesting website is "Tonetoys" in Germany. He offers rare Celestions (a friend of mine bought some and they sounded nice with the Z amp too - though the Tone Tubby alnico is an outstanding speaker with a warmer sound and more bottom). Good luck in finding the right cab and speaker.
