I have bought myself a speaker cab finally. Took a few weeks of reading but I settled on an Avatar Cabinet. I have the same 2 speakers that come stock in the Z-Best cab but payed less than half the price. I went with an open back cab. It matches my blonde Maz 38 exactlt so that is a huge bonus. I am very happy with how it sounds. Been playing through it for a week now and its sounding better and better as the speakers break in. Anyone looking for a cab at a great price check out Avatar.

Recently bought an Avatar G212 Vintage (Bluesbreaker style) cabinet. Came very well pacakged. They almost shipped too quickly, but they worked with me to have it arrive on the day I could receive it. Good quality- good materials. Two issues- scratched on one of the side handles (not a big deal). I also went through and snugged up all the screws in side (I am changing the valiance to hardwood to match a Straub amp)- Several needed the snugging up so I'd recommend that if you get one. I found one on the side handles that was 'stripped' and wouldn't tighten.
I got the G12H Heritage and G12H Anniversary combo- Not much time on them yet for a tone report. They're at home right now 'breaking in.' (Running music through them for a 8-12 hours)
Overall, the Avatar looks like a solid deal.

I just picked up a G112 Vintage from Dave off the 'bay. Can't wait to try it out w/ the Ghia. It comes with a V30 + I've got an old Celestion 85 laying around that I can pop in there too to try out.

Also have an open back Avatar Vintage 1X12". I tried the V30 in my Avatar, but had substantial cone cry issues. High notes above the 12th fret would cry like a baby. Couldn't dial it out. So I bought a Weber AlNiCo 12A150A. It solved the cone cry issue plus sounds fantastic with my Route 66. I used to think you had to have at least a 2X12" cab, but the Avatar Vintage 1X12" loaded with an efficient AlNiCo speaker can fill small rooms/clubs easily. Plus it is easier on the wallet.

Is the Vintage 1x12 as heavy as quoted on the site? I was thinking of getting one, but it says it weighs as much as the Premium 2x12 I already have. I have a pair of speakers from a Tweed Twin that I believe are 12a150a's also. I put one in my other guitar players combo amp, and it was a substantial improvement. Looking for a cab for the other one for me. Harold

I can't imagine that it is as heavy as a loaded Avatar Premium 2X12 cab. That doesn't sound right.

Nope, it's not that heavy at all. Definitely lighter than my Zbeast was...

Another Avatar owner...have had the cab over 3 years - one of which it was on the road solid. 212 open back standard. Great value!! Tolex pulled loose around the sound hole - like it shrunk - but never came off. Still that way.

Just checked the website and it states the Vintage G112 at 45# and the Premium 2x12 at 49# both approximate. If you get a chance to weigh it, I'd be interested to know the actual figure. Thanks! Harold

Fired up my new G112 vintage w/ the ghia tonight.. oh yeah! I had an old G12-85 Celestion laying around that I threw in there and it sounds incredible in that cab. I jammed along with some Free and those Kossoff tones were just oozing from the ghia... good times..
