I recently bought 1x12 cab Z "old style" ,this thing is great with a single C-Gold in there and easy to transport. Is that the closed back, ported cabinet? I am thinking about a pair of those for my EV SRO AlNiCos.

Thanks for posting here, Cas. I love that you've got "production" cabs that mere mortals like me can afford. I just don't have the coin for one of those artwork boxes you call speaker cabs!
Someday I'll have a TT 2x12 with a Gold and Weber 1230-55:)

Seeing as some of you guys are stuck on the "old style" of Z 1x12 cab that Doc doesn't make anymore, I found this one. And he has a wide variety of tolex/grill cloth to match your Z. And Jeff (the maker) seems like a great guy, very quick on the return email and answers. And just so you guys know the "official" answer is that it's cheaper/easier for the Doc to make one size cab with different baffles. The 2x10 and the 1x12 are the same cab with different baffle. Now ya'll can quit buggin the Doc ;D J/K. www.jdesigncabs.com/I have one of these cabs that I bought from one of our forum guys here, and loaded it with a V30. What a great sounding cab! And lightweight and portable!

Thanks Dock I have to decide between a CGold and a Blue, I don't need an open high end for country, a more balanced one to be versatile also for rock, blues etc. I read that a Dr.Z 1x12 with V30 is more trebly, many good things about C Blue, but even Cgold seem to be nice speakers...

I've never played a Gold, but based on what I hear on this forum, I'd assume that the Gold gives you almost all of what you like about a Blue, only it's more versatile.

I have to ask my Z dealer if the one he has now in stock is a 1x12, with CGold or another speaker like V30 (think the 2nd..). If ithat cab has the V30 I have to decide to buy this or order one for ex. from Tone-tools with CGold depending by the price...
Justin, I saw your video (and appreciate them), and wonder what if that yellow (or tweed) is your Peavey 1x12 cab... Thancks Dock, you know... these are trmendous decision to take...!!

Yes, the little tweed cab is my humble Peavey 1x12 that now has a Blue in it. It's supposed to match a Classic 30 combo as an extension cab, and I liked how small it was, so I kept it when I junked that amp.
The neat thing is that this little cab is almost the EXACT same dimensions as my Stang Head-- makes for a nice portable rig!

Now need to rush. Take your time Dr.T. Well said JB, infact today's trial made me sure I don't really need a 1x12... As I wrote on the thread I started It sounds very good, and I think that with a Blue or a Gold it would be great. But my first intention was having a less louder sounding unit, and this is not what I expected.

Hi Folks,
Just as an update, I received my 112 from Jeff (identical to the one at the start of this thread) yesterday. Fast shipping and service. The box was carefully packed and the cab is in perfect shape. The workmanship and finish look to be top-notch.
The one I got has the semi-open oval back on it.
Loaded it up with an Eminence Swamp Thang I had nearby. Sounds really great! Playing my 6545 through it. Cleans are absolutely dynamite! HIgh gain sounds are pretty darn good too. I was planning a bunch of speaker swapping experiments, but I may just stick with this one...for now ;D.
Certainly the 112 sounds a bit "smaller" than my Z-Best, but it is still quite good and so much more portable (less than 1/2 the weight).
Cheers, Blair
