Is it possible to run an 8 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab at the same time with a y cable?

Is it possible to run an 8 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab at the same time with a y cable? Yes, but one will be louder than the other, and you're going to need a 2.6 ohm output on your amp, or a 12 ohm output. I'm guessing that your amp won't tolerate a 2.6 ohm load, so lets focus on the 12 ohm load. To do that, you need to wire the two speakers in series. So you need a "special" series Y cable, not the standard type that you can get over the counter. Then use the 16 ohm output on your amp.
