Hello
I would really like to try my Ghia combo with a 15". I have a Polytone Minibrute III here with a 15 in it so i thought id try that. Problem is there is no specifications on the actual speaker, just says 3ohms on the back of the combo...and as far as i know min is 4ohm on the Ghia right? Is there a way to measure a speaker's impedance? I have a multi-meter here, could i use that? Also, there is 4 connections on the polytone speaker rather than two, anyone know why this is?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Johan

if you can measure the DC resistance of the speaker in your Polytone with a multimeter. it would be about 80% of the rated impedance of your speaker. so if it reads about 6.5-ohm, it's an 8-ohm speaker. if it reads approx. 12.5 or so, it's a 16-ohm. a 4-ohm speaker would be about 3.2~3.3-ohms. then you can plug it in to the appropriate speaker out jack. if you have to mismatch, do it downward, not up and avoid more than 2:1 mismatch.

Hello Thanks guys. I had a look at that website and i must say i dont understand much of it! Mudskipper: How could i measure it while it is still in the amp? It is a closed combo but real easy to take off the back panel... Also, about the mismatch: Dont understand hat you mean about up instead of down. Do you mean 16 rather than 2ohm is ok? Ghia has 4 or 8ohm output.. Johan

Hello again
Just realised I was a bit unclear about my last question to Mudskip...
Do i just attach the multimeter to the poles on the speaker? Amp switched on or off? Also, the speaker has 4 connections, any idea why this is?
Thanks a lot guys!
