Wanted to give some love to the Stangray page. I picked up a Z Best cab in January and loving how good the Stangray sounds with a Z-Best. The Stangray can be a rock-n-roll beast! I played a Stangray/Z-Best at Z Fest (cranked with a full band) and don't know why it took me so long to own a Z-Best. Probably cause I'm lazy and like the ease of a toting a light weight combo. I play dance rock club music and have been using a stock '94 les paul lately. OMG this rig is amazing! Turn the guitar volume down (1-2) for sweet chime. Dime the guitar volume and it's LP fat city with a thud factor that will rival a Marshall half stack. I keep my rhythm volumes low but when it's lead time... oh yeah baby. I run the airbrake on 1-2 and it's loud, at least for me it is, but so beautiful that so far only sound men have complained. Been using this set up since Feb. The singers aren't complaining, so it must be sweet. The Stangary is a very versatile amp, a big bad wolf in sheep's clothing.

The first time I played a Ray was with a Z Best. I stil long for that tone! I'm saving for a Z Best now - cant hurt to have two cab options for my Ray, right?

Hi Drew,
I'm still enjoying the Ray head I got from you however many years ago. I no longer play out and it is way too much amp for me these days but the cleans are still pretty much the best I've ever heard so I can't bring myself to sell it. Hope all is well with you and glad to hear you are still out there rocking the Ray.
Nick

It certainly can't hurt to have a couple of cabs, especially when on is a Z Best!
Nick, It's good to hear you're still lovin the Ray. It's a wonderful amp. We're playing in Smokey Point at a club called Razzels this weekend. The Ray and Z-Best are rockin' on humbuckers. Put's a smile on my face.

Sure do miss my days of playing the Stingray through the Blues, but I don't think I had the Z-Best and 'ray at the same time, so I never got to experience that. The 'ray has so much authority, I'm thinking I know exactly what you're talking about Drew. Yummy stuff...
