After playing my EZG 50 in my apartment and then getting the opportunity to crank it up at a friends house has caused me to try to figure out how to get that same tone at lower volumes. I have a 4x12 cabinet that I currently play through. However, I've come to a crossroad. I'm not a big fan of pedals, but I'm open to the idea. Before this head I had a 64 Blackface Fender Pro Reverb that was stolen. Since that time I've looked for and chased that tone. How can I get the EZG 50 amp to break up at lower volumes? Do I need to get an Airbrake? Are there any mods in the works for the EZG?
Thanks for your input and advice.

These EZ's are basically clean machines with tons of headroom. You'll need pedals for OD, unless you run the amp at high vol., and even then, you won't get a lot of OD. A lot of guys run the air brake, and a few run the brake lite. I don't like attenuators, and I get great tone at low volume using pedals. Have fun with you're pedals, because this amp is probably the best pedal platform I've ever used.

Airbrake works well with it - a little more breakup at "user-friendly" volumes.,

Thanks for the replies and I appreciate your help. Does the choice of cabinets make a difference? I'm either going to buy a 4x10 cabinet or downsize amps.
