This is the coolest little dolly I have ever used. For all you Z brothers who like me are sick of lugging around gear this little gadget has helped me big time. I can fit my 1/12 cab and head on it and my effects bag and roll in and out of places with ease. Even for your grab and go it works great I got mine at Sams club. Work smarter not harder. www.samsclub.com/sams/magna-cart-dolly/prod3800002.ip

Hey Rev - I watch the other electric player at my church use one of those every other week when he's scheduled with his little combo, pedal board, guitar, and chair. He's a HR guy for a Kaiser Permanente so he has always to set the example (as well as protect his back and think smart), but I need to break down and get one for myself instead of making multiple trips from my car /o\. I do have wheels for my cab & head though!!

These carts are great. I use one on my bass gigs - it allows me to take a bass, amp and 410 cab in one trip with my bass on my back in a soft case. I got mine from Costco for about $20.

I got a slightly smaller one, same brand, some years ago. Works great, but a larger one would suit me better.
Mine did break when it slipped out of my grip on a very wet load out. Bent the telescoping aluminum under the weight of a powered PA speaker. I was able to wrestle it back into working condition eventually, although it still is bent a little.

I had one do the exact same thing Doc! I slipped out of my hand and bent and I was unable to fix mine I ended up returning it for another one!

I do have wheels for my cab & head though!! I had back surgery in 1996 and 11 surgery''s on both my hands from 1991-2006. I am actually in great shape but you can never be too careful. I had the wheels on cabs before isn't that alot of fun wheeling it through parking lots then you hit a rock or a dip and BOOM! Its happened to me a few times with Marshall 4/12 cabs! lol! Be careful with those Z amps!

I've got the black and red version and it's awesome. I love how small it folds up and its really solid. my only complaint is it doesn't do well with door thresholds. gotta go over them backwards.

These carts will very likely allow most of the forum members to join the "one-round-trip-to-the-car-per-job" club if they want to. I've used the larger one for over two years with no probelems.

Thats it. I can fit my effects bag on top of my combo or even my head and 1/12 cab and still carry my guitar in my gig bag. In and out in one trip and thats what Im talkin about!

^^^ One trip -- if you don't also have to lug some of the PA gear That would not be bad as long as one of your guys controlled the sound board. Nothing worse the a sound guy who's a control freak.

Right Dr. Ice.
The trick is to get to the job right after they finish setting the PA up; in my case, the leaders who hire me usually have this duty (but would like some help). Sometimes I'm able to get this right, sometimes not. It's probably too much to wish for that everybody would switch to the Bose PAs and forget about all of the current tonnage that people think they need to play a job.

With the exception of larger outdoor gigs, for which we hire a sound guy, we do our own PA. I have the mixer, a bin of cables, speaker poles and one powered speaker to bring along in addition to my personal gear. Other guys bring more speakers, mics and stands, etc.
On those summer gigs, it is indeed one trip from the car, and I love it!

Yes, when I take my band out, it's much the same, which is why my co-leader and I pay ourselves a little more (the "privilege of ownership" and "exclusive use") for setting everything up and taking it down.
Those Bose systems do sound pretty good, though, sonic-wise and schlepping-wise. I wonder how well they do outside, but that's another topic.

Its pretty sturdy I never tried it with the z-best. It is easy on the tolex. The only thing is its so light it as slipped out of my hands a few times pulling it.

I also use a Gator 1x12 amp transporter for some jobs. It's adjustable re: height, wheeled and has a hole in thetop so you can acces the amp (or cab) handle, plus it doubles as an amp stand. FYI, I put a one inch layer of closed cell foam in the bottom to reduce the vibration when I take it out.

I have one of the first renditions of these fold up karts, from Harbor Freight, but its bigger, heavier, and never folds flat without being a PITA. Ill be using the new dolly tomorrow nite.

I have one of those, and also several regular dollys. Lately our drummer and I picked up one of these and I like it a lot. It folds up very small and is configurable. www.ultimatesupport.com/product/JS-KC80

I'm not sure what brand/make my cart is, but it is similar to the Magna Cart. The only gripe I have is the smaller wheels don't work very well in gravel parking lots like some country juke joints have.

I have one of those I got at WalMart a couple years ago. Forget the brand but it was $29.95 and it says it's good for 200 pounds. It easily handles my Twin Reverbs, and they seem like 200 pounds.
The whole key for safe transport for me anyway is proper load placement and balance, which kind of go together.
