I recently Purchased an Nice NOS USA made 5R4 Rectifier tube, It was Installed in my 67 Super Reverb, WOW!!! It has great Clarity and Headroom , But when turned up to 5-6 on the Volume, WOW!!!!! It has so much GRIT and SUSTAIN!!! What are the Tech and Voltage Pros and Cons versus the 5AR4 or GZ34 tube, I love this RECTIFER!!!

What did the amp have in it before? If it was a 5U4 then you probably have higher plate voltages and less sag now. You might want to have the idle current checked on the power tubes to make sure it is still within limits.

The 5R4's are much different than the 5AR4, closer to a 5y3. The 5V4 is very close to being the same as the 5AR4 and is a great substitute... someitmes these are relabeled 5AR4's and much cheaper...
