In your experience, how long does it take for the speakers on a brand new Dr Z 2x10 cab to break in?

I have two 2x10 Maz junior combos. I think this will be helpfull still to you as speakers are still speakers. I honestly feel they take a good couple of months at various levals and tones to really offer up what there all about....completly that is. They will soften and warm up each time you use them of course but to me it's about a couple O' months for the real thang to happin' Just my .02 worth.... I love the Docs 10" Z speakers! Very cool indeed and impressive......... .......Cheycaster

Thanks for your response. (I love Flathead Lake, by the way, my wife and I used to live in Missoula)
A couple of months, huh? I suppose I should ask how many hours a day/days a week you were playing through them? I've got about 5 weeks before one particular recording session that I will really need them to be primed and ready for...

Well I play/pray for about an hour in the morning and play 9 out of 10 days about 3-5 hours after work. The more you play then the more they get broken in. To me I thought after a few weeks of playing my new Maz junior that the speakers were sounding warmer, fatter, quicker responce etc. then after another month or so I noticed the same thing again and so on. I'm sure you can have yours in a good place bwithin the next 5 weeks. I guess there like as they say fine wine, they just keep gettingbetter and better with age!! Cheycaster

After giving them a good workout-and maybe thinking "boy these speakers are awfully bright" on a couple occasions, you might find yourself turning up the treble just a tad...then you know they are broke in. It's happened with my Z2x10 cab, my Ghia 2X10, and now my Maz 18 2X10. By the way it did take a few months but I don't have the luxury of making noise everyday.

Celestion has information on their website about speaker break in. I know Z doesn't use 10" Celestions, but the info should be pretty much the same for most speakers.
