So, All of a sudden my Remedy stopped working on the "half Power" setting! Don't really know when it happened - last week it was fine - went to the full power setting for a while-then went back to half - still okay. Turned it off last night....when I turned it on today - NOTHING!? I thought the whole amp died, but when I switched to full power, it's okay. But no sound at all on the half. Any easy things I can look at before taking it to an expensive shop??
Thanks! DickieG Tampa

I bet there is a power tube issue involved there...

I'm with Steve, power tube thing. When you go to half power on the remedy you are shorting the signal from two of the 6V6s to ground. It may be possible that you blew the two tubes that are sending signal to the speaker at half power. Weird, but possible. When you go to full power you are getting the other two as well and you get sound back. That is a guess on my part. Others know way more about the inner workings of them than me. When you go to full power does it sound like it did before at full power? Is it as loud and is the tone the same? If so I am likely wrong. Or is it as loud as it normally is at half power. To check out my theory you could start switching around the power tubes to different positions in some systematic way and see if you get half power in some arrangement of them. It would be nice to know which two go to ground when at half power. I would guess outside two or inside two but that is strictly a guess. An easier way would be to get 4 new 6V6s and sub them in. If it acts the same you'll have a spare set which you should have anyway and if it fixes it dump the old ones since the ones that didn't fail have been run as much as the ones which did .

Thanks, worth a try. Any other thoughts out there before I buy new tubes? (Any recommendations for the best tubes for a Remedy?)

One other question - can I just pop new power tubes in, or do I need to re bias?? Thanks again!

It's a cathode biased amp so no adjustment is required. Use a nice matched quad of balanced power tubes.
It may be worth checking the phase inverter tube also. (closest 12AX7 to the Power Tubes)

Thanks, worth a try. Any other thoughts out there before I buy new tubes? (Any recommendations for the best tubes for a Remedy?) The Remedy was designed around the JJ 6V6. Just get a matched quad. Cathode biased, so just plug-n-play. Good luck & Keep rocking that Remedy!

That is a new one to me. I have never heard of the 1/2 power circuit to fail.
If it works in full power , then I would assume the 6V6's are OK, since all four are working. My first thought is the 1/2 power toggle switch is bad. High quality Carling switch, but you never know.
We can fix that for you.

Maybe switch the power tubes. From right to left 1,2,3,4. Swap 1,2 with 3,4. My thinking, if that's how the tubes are "paired" this would reverse the effect. 1/2 should work and full power won't. Just a thought.

put in a new matched quad....voilla! perfect! When I took out the old ones, I saw that the 3rd one (counting from the preamp tubes) had a cloudy top....I'm thinking that was the culprit. I'm throwing that one out, and keeping the other 3 just in case. Thanks guys for all the support here....great board and members!
