Lance at Ray's Guitars in Detroit has been great in taking care of my "Z" needs. I've purchased a RXES, Z-best and a Galaxie from him and he has been nothing but great to work with.
I've been doing alot of reading about Bill Nash and his guitars and decided to order one through Lance. It was the first time I was able to piece together a guitar that had everything that I wanted in a guitar. I told Lance exactly what I wanted from the Neck size/shape, to frets, to pups, to body. It took about 6 months, but she finally arrived and I'm blown away. I spent all of yesterday just playing acoustically with it and was amazed by the sounds/tones that just jumped off the neck/body. It felt like slipping on a pair of your favorite Levi's - you know the ones - totally broken in, a little tear at the knee, skoal ring on the left rear pocket, and a little frayed around the bottom hems. I spent 30 minutes just strumming chords with my ear against the back of the neck enjoying the tonal quality of the instrument.
She just felt right. I'm heading home over the lunch hour to plug her in for the first time and hear what all the buzz is about Jason Lollar pups. I'll let you know how she sounds in a few hours.....

Congratulations on your new guitar and I look forward to hearing great things (with pictures). I'm still beating myself for not snatching a Nash when he had some real bargains on Ebay. He made some fantastic relics.

I think a lot of it just has to do with the very thin finish. Most new guitars just have too much finish on them.

Surreal McCoy, Which LOLLAR pickups did you go with! I have a set of the BLONDE SC's and they sound amazing!

Man, I almost called in sick. Just to stay home the rest of the day and play that Nash tele. It was the first guitar I've played with Lollars.
I plugged her into the Maz-38 first. No pedals, just pure unadulterated tele tone in the bridge and some serious screaming once I flipped the switch to the imperial humbucker that was loaded in the neck position. Just a ridiculously good guitar. I couldn't be happier.
Then I warmed up the EL-34s on the SRZ-65 LE and let the humbucker go with the gain cranked. I did my best Warner Hodges imitations while playing through "Broken Whiskey Glass" all by myself. I'm used to hearing it played by my Fender Pro Closet Classic but this time it sounded so much better w/ the bucker on the Nash.
Lastly, I switched heads to the Galaxie and dropped the tele back to the bridge for some classic tele tone and the Nash/Galaxie combo delivered. I remember someone talking about the "swirling cleans" of the Galaxie and they were much more apparant this afternoon. I can't tell you how much I enjoy the Nash tele & Dr. Z combo. I'll take photos tonight.

GIBBY - Imperial Humbucker in the Neck and Vintage T in the bridge. Absolutely love it.

i bought a 52 heavy relic'd tele without playing it first,, at first i had to get used to it, it didnt knock me out, then i put 9's on it, and it is just the most fun of any guitar i have ever had, real classic tele bridge tones. so i ordered a candy apple red hard tail bridge strat, loved it,, after about a year i noticed with pedals that it squealed quite a bit, so i emailed bill asked him about it,, he just goes,, " i thought about sending you out a pickgaurd with some noiseless dimarzios,," whoa, after a whole year!, so he sent, and easy install, and i sent him back the other pickguard,, perfect,, that is customer service,, it is a great 62 strat folks,, light, rosewood neck that is perfect. i really want one of the bound tele sunburst ones but i better just be happy with what i have and play them more,, get em while you can, ,,, someone said he might quit someday and open a used bookstore in seattle,,

This one is on my "just maybe" list. Especially for such a "Andy Summers" fan.
