I've seen recent reviews of expensive straps such as Moody's leathers, who claim increased comfort when playing, plus good looks. Anyone using expensive leathers or are you all just using whatever you pick up at GC for $10-20? Wondering if spending big bucks on a strap makes a difference.

I usually use the cotton or hemp web straps. No metal buckles to scratch the guitar. They also have enough grip to keep the guitar in place. I hate those leather straps with the lace in and out length adjustment. What a pain to adjust the length!

Been using leather straps from day one. My dad had some really nice old leather straps on his guitars when I started playing so that is what I have always used. As for price they are all over the board from about $30 on up. Not sure that paying a ton for a standard leather strap is worth it......however......I did just get a nice Cobra Skin strap from my wife for my birthday. Very nice 3" wide Monaco Cobra skin in an Ice Tea finish. Can not complain about that at all.

I have very plain leather EXTRA LONG straps... Some music stores have decent ones. I called Dave at ToneQuest a few years back as they offered nice leather straps to their subscribers... The first ones I bought, were too short, so I called him and he started making the extra long ones with ToneQuest banged into them. Plain but classy. When I lose a few more lbs I am going to get ONE nice fancy one custom made... JUST BECAUSE!
I just thought... nice extra long leather straps with Dr. Z Amps banged into them!! I'd buy a few!!!

I used to make all my own from various sources. For example, the strap I have on my PRS is from a 54" Police Duty Belt (like this one: www.copsplus.com/prodnum1521.php) that I found at a thrift store. It was brand new, and it was just the right length. Lately though, I've purchased a few custom made (expensive) straps that I'm pretty fond of. One has three glass Alligator Eyeballs sewed in to it so they are peering out at the crowd as I play. I've always wanted to put lights in behind those eyeballs, but never have. I have a couple other nice ones, but this is probably my favorite.

Z-Grip, I got one of MOODY'S LEATHER STRAPS for christmas last year! It is absolutely the finest leather you can get on a "GUITAR STRAP"! Yes it does feel incredibly comfortable and it looks and smells even better! EXTREMELY FINE ITALIAN LEATHER! THIS STRAP IS HEADS ABOVE ANY OTHER STRAPS OFFERED BY ANYONE! Moody will send you a leather sample of the color that you prefer! Well worth the money! IT WILL LAST YOU A LIFETIME! ;D

I don't know of Levi's is considered plain or fancy, but the two I have work very well...
I also have a cheaper GC leather strap that works very well on my Hamer.
I use strap locks, so I don't really try lots of different straps.

Moody's, baby, YEAH!!!!! The best, I'm about to order my second. They don't slip, they don't slide, soft as a tender breast, strong as a erection after a double dose of Viagra. Do you get the impression I like the product? Allison is a pleasure to do business with, to boot. You will not regret this purchase.

I'm using a Moody strap (along with all kinds of other straps). Great feel, and it looks pretty cool. Oh, and it smells like expensive leather to boot. MeZa

I want one made of fine corinthian leather and a Dodge Diplomat to match! Wasn't that the Chrysler Cordoba that came with the fine Corinthian leather as touted by Ricardo Montalban? Man, am I dating my self or what? Thanks everyone for the feedback. Think I'll ask Santa for a Moody's. I've been fairly good this year

I use the widest straps I can find because of carpal tunel and some possible diabestes related neuropathy. I usually have a basic black strap for the tux type gigs, and then have a little flashier Levi silver strap for bars. But I need at least 3" wide to help distribuet the weight across my shoulder efficiently.

I think this look pretty cool! My mean & evil bandmates got me this strap when I hit 50. The pink color is really cute. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

The only strap to have is a #1 Stretch Strap made in Germany. Very comfortable , conforms to your shoulder, and don't cut into your shoulder. The best strap for a heavy Les Paul .

I use ITALIA leather straps mainly because they will make you a 4inch wide strap. At $50.00 to 80.00 their a little pricey but very comfortable and look great also.Anybody who plays a les paul should love them.................Sterling

Pretty funny. We took a few pix last week. We used the timer on the camera. Dan realized he didn't have his glasses, but it was too late, as the timer triggered. By the way, I also have a nice pink 'Hello Kitty' strap; and a cool gold-glitter guitar to go with it! (Actually, this Daisy Rock guitar really sounds sweet. It's an acoustic-electric with a great sound & parametric eq. Perfect for use at any biker bar). I use all kinds of straps, as I have a number of guitars. I have the complete collection of Ed Roth Rat Fink straps, a few Fender & Gibson straps. A couple of old pattern straps from the '60's, a Kepur strap, a hemp strap, Gretsch straps, etc.... MeZa

I've used the same two cheapie nylon standard-issue straps for the past ten years. They keep ticking, gig after gig after gig. Buying a "good strap" is just something that never crosses my mind. I don't know why.

Levy's black garment leather straps for me. Every guitar deserves its own strap, by the way.
Plain AND fancy at the same time.

Well, Andy Summers must be a South Park fan because his guitar strap depicted several of Kenny's deaths with the quote, "Oh my God, you killed Kenny! You b@stards!" when I saw the Police on Tuesday. ;D ;D
