Hello Everyone,
I'm new here in Z land with my new purchase of a 2012 Maz38 SR 2x12 NR Blonde. I've had this pup for a week now and I'm happy with the tones so far. I really love the mids in this line of amps. I appreciate this forum and all of your posts that led me to an informed decision about what to get. I pretty much laid the guitar down 5 yrs ago while taking the lead Thru keyboards at church. I haven't missed guitar..until my buddy, TBox as you know him in the zforum, got a Z-Wreck. I have been amazed at the tone he gets with it and since then having been selling and scheming my way to a z purchase...and $2100.00 and a pissed off wife later, here I am with me Maz! I'm selling my fender deville and vox ac30 cuz theres just now away I choose them over this Z! I'm going to really try breaking in these G12H30's before considering blue or gold. So my question is this:
Is there any difference in bypassing my stock cab to another speaker cab then there would be if I had just bought a Maz 38 head?

So do I have to be a member for 30 days to get some input?

First, welcome aboard. SEcond, congrats on the new amp Third yes it would be like using your combo as a head - unplugging the stock combo speaks and running to a separate head. That said, if you are looking for extra volume and sonic sensations, then maybe look at a couple of adaptors/cables to use both the stock speaks and a cab. cheers always Joel p.s. I do beleeb the 30 days is just for the buy'n'sell section ....

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.
Joel hit it right on the head. Sounds like you're just using your cab like a head. Give the G12H30's a chance. If you want a more vintage sound the gold and the blue will give it to you. The blue is brighter than a gold.

Thanks Joel and Doc001! The speakers are G12H30's. I don't have a cab right now because I don't have anymore money I may sell my Bushmaster AR and put it on a Z Best cab. Read a lot of good things about those. I like the Z-wreck cab configuration. I've read a lot on this forum where peeps are quick to ditch the G12's for Golds and blue's, but Doc I AM definitely going to give the 12's a try. I have my mids cranked, Bass at 12:00, Treb at 11:00 and Cut about 8:30 with the volume on 2:00. Although I've only been able to play at bedroom level I am still getting a warm sound at low volume. Eq might change a little once I put it on my mammoth church stage and get to crank it. I've tried to match my eq to the tone bypass setting so I can use them both live without the tones being so different.

Welcome aboard, I like a single 12 for ease of portability, but a Zbest (2X12's), convertible 2X10 4X10 Zcab is a wellspring of awesomeness. I find that as I crank the Volume and Master, I need less and less mid and bass, and I kinda tune the treble, mid and cut to taste, when ya get it right its hard to beat!

Thanks BW! What speaks are you using? Im dealing with this so called mid scoop in these g12H30's so thats why i have my mids up nearly all the way. Im interested to hear it when its really cranked(havent gotten it out of the bedrrom yet). I should be getting my airbrake wednesday so im excited about that!

I have the stock setup in my Zbest, don't really change 'em around all that much. I've had a Celestion G12H100 in my overseas single 12 cab, and one in my old faithful Studio Deluxe MAZ 38 combo here at home for years, I think its about to quit on me though, might be changing to a G1265. I tried a Gold on my last trip overseas, it was kinda OK for soloing but I think I need a ceramic just for the headroom factor while playing rhythm, the old 100 watt ceramic just sounds cleaner to me. Still gonna try the Gold somewhere else, just ain't figgered out where yet.

Cool. Im guessing i'll be a alnico guy, but i do like the headroom i have right now. Let me know if you want to sell that gold. Its my future plan to try one with the maz.
