Anyone ever play one of these? Like the original, same design and everything, except it has a seymour duncan mini humbucker on the neck, a custom bridge PU as well. Kinda reminds me of my old G&L classic bluesboy, which i regret selling Thinking about buying one of these. Any own or play one? If its anything like the original, then im sold, i just want a punchier sound and i think the SD pickup would do that. on a side note, damn i wish i wouldn't have sold my G&L. Still trying to decide if getting a fender tele of this kind, or a G&L asat classic bluesboy tele.....any suggestions/advice? Thanks... -chris

I tried one and thought it was cool idea - but not quite what I was lookin' for sound wise. For me, I'm not so keen on the Firebird style pickup. That said - I have heard some other people play 'em and they obviously knew their way around the guitar better than I did (big surprise) Recently I put some stack Duncan pickups in my 52 reissue - am diggin' it alot. ;D As for G&L Bluesboy? Would love to get one of the semi-hollow with the solid top (no f-hole). just my .02, etc, etc, etc, Joel

I really liked it. The mini bucker is a little brighter and matches well with the bridge (compared to a full sized bucker), and I love the big neck with the flatter radius.

Still seems to have a thicker finish than I like. And it's like $1,400!

You would have to go out , try and A/B them and decide to make a real educated choice . I've said this many times before , it's OK to get opinions but always try yourself before you buy , you are the one playing it .

I had one for a short while. I liked the flatter radius on the neck, neck finish, and frets better than a '52 RI. The mini hum while a great idea in theory just didn't work for me. As a result I didin't bond with the guitar and sold it
