As I battle thru one of the worst cases of guitar acquisition syndrome that I have ever experienced (at least for this month) .... I have been contemplating a guitar with all rosewood neck.
Anyone ever tried one? And if so, what did you think of it?
cheers, eh

I have a parts tele I bought on eBay a while back...Allparts body, Joe Barden bridge, Fralin Blues Specials, and an Indian rosewood Warmoth neck with an ebony board. First of all, the RW neck feels REALLY good--no finish, organic, very rigid and resonant. To my ears and hands, it makes the guitar bright and crisp in attack. When using an overdrive, I hear a very strong fundamental cutting through the overtones. This is my best tele for rock, and I think a lot of it is due to the IRW neck. This guitar loves to be played hard at volume. With all that said, it's also very sweet sounding through a clean Super Reverb. Oh, and the IRW is heavier than my other tele necks. Just my two cents, the usual caveats apply. Hope that helps!

All rosewood necks feel amazing and it's the reason I bought my PRS McCarty Rosewood. As for sound, my guitar has the typical PRS sound, but as Cosmo posted, it sits well in distorted tones. The bottom-end is looser than a maple neck guitar and can get muddy at times, but I also think a lot of that is the stock PRS pickups.

My only experience was with the aforementioned McCarty Rosewood.
Killer axe. The best feeling neck I've ever played.

Just tried out a McCarty Rosewood yesterday and it was truly an awesome sound. Very nice, wide, warm tones from the neck pick-up ;D ;D The finish on the neck was even more cool - very natural, even and absolutely different than most of the other guitars I have ever had the opportunity to try. Seem to be narrowing some of my g.a.s. a little bit .... maybe a PRS or an EBMM with the rosewood neck Unfortunately, the guitar my wife thought looked and sounded the best was a CS-336 - and she said I should buy it ......d'oh! ;D ;D
