Okay, I have been looking into this for a while. I have a guitar being made that will, hopefully, be shipped to me soon. As the shop I am using is in the Eastern US and I am not I am going for FedEx 2nd Day Air. I was wondering what you all have found to be the best route for shipping a guitar (ground or air) and which carrier has the best reputation for not damaging guitars (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.).
Seems from all I have read some folks love UPS some love FedEx and some shops swear by ground and others will only use air shipments. Based on my own limited experience I prefer FedEx but would like to hear from you all about this topic.
Thanks
Paul G.

I shipped a computer to our daughter in Barcelona from Umeå - northern Sweden. ( an iMac brand new - some 5 years ago it was )
Choose UPS airfreight - 3-day guaranteed delivery. They didn't deliver within three days. ( there was a snafu in Köln I believe )
I did a reclamation on this and they paid me back the whole cost without quibble. It did take a while - almost two months I think - before I finally got my money back. But there was absolutely NO SHIRKING their promise about this warranty.
Very professional attitude in that respect - although the delivery itself missfired somewhat.

Hey Paul,
2nd Day Air is a good choice. Less hands handling the package.

Thanks guys. I think I will stick with Fed Ex 2nd Day Air. Seems like Fed Ex is the best route. Has anyone had any issues due to air travel with their guitars (finish cracking, neck issues, etc)?

Speaking of air travel... Did I not once read on here about a law pertaining to bringing guitars on planes? If there is no law, what is the best way to do this? I have an acoustic to bring with me when I fly to London this monday.
