I have a Squier tele that's going to travel all over the world with me for the next 17 or so years and because of te duration, I'd like the neck to be comfortable. Right now it's pretty thin. But I checked out a neck for a MIM Fender tele that was supposed to be "fat" and it's pretty much the same size.
Now, ideally I'd like to know what size on Warmoth is the same size as the Jeff Beck Esquire. Fender claims it's akin to the Nocaster necks of old, but sources say it's more like the 1957 soft V neck.
I like this neck. It's got some thickness to it, but not enough for my smaller hands to cry uncle.
Anyway, the other day I found a guitar store here in town (that makes ONE guitar store here in town!) and they had an olympic white strat that had a pretty comfortable neck on it, but the salesman didn't know what kind of neck it was.
So anyhoo. Looking at Warmoth's catalogue which do you think is the right tele neck for me? I don't like thin necks, but don't want too thick of a neck. I'm not too big of a fan of V necks (my Gretsch has one and I haven't gotten used to it yet and it requires a lot more thumb-on-the-back to get where I'm going. Not the most comfortable neck out there but the tone is to die for and the looks are amazing so it's the only flaw). I'm not too worried about vintage correct either. The neck will no doubt get big frets too.
Any help with this would be great. Thanks for your time and have a good one.

I have the Warmoth Pro neck with standard thin contour on my Telecaster. The width at the nut is 1 3/4" == 44.5 mm a little wider than normal tele that's either1 11/16" == 42.85 mm or 1 5/8" == 41.27 mm I like that - the with is the same as my Les Paul Gold top 1969 altough the neck is bit thicker and the scale is shorter of course. You can always email or phone the guys at Warmoth - I'm sure they can help out. Cheers: Dixiechicken

The Warmoth "Boat" is the closest to the Jeff Beck Esquire (the $10k one). The Warmoth boat 'may' be slightly larger, get it unfinished and you, or your luthier, can sand it down to exactly what you want, then have him finish it in your prefered finish.
I prefer Satin Nitro or Oil finish.

The Warmoth '59 Round Back' is a nice profile also.
I like 7.25" or 9.5" radius with 6150 frets FWIW.
