I'm thinking about changing the pickups in my 2005 Les Paul right now it has burst buckers which sound ok but I'm looking for your opinions on good replacements.
I play mostly at church my style would be modern rock I guess I'd say any input would be appreciated.

Fralins are good, Lollar Imperials are super nice, and Duncan Antiquitys sound good too.

I'm thinking about going with the Rio Grande BBQ/Texas combo like some of the fellas have mentioned in the thread below. I really like their single coil pickups.

Seymour Duncan 59:ers is a good set on any Paul - close to what we think of as the Lester sound. ( if there is such a thing ) Cheers: Dixiechicken

If you have $$, Bare Knuckles, Fralin, Lollars, WCR.
If not, I really like my SD Pearly Gates/'59 setup in my V.

The Lollar imperials are the nicest i've used, but they aren't exactly like PAFs. Medium output. Really clear sounding cleans and a bit of edge when you overdrive them.

I've got a set of Fralin Unbuckers in my Heritage. I really like 'em. They're very quiet, considering they're unbalanced coils, and have just enough "air". Really nice.

You could check out the WCR pickups. I have a set of the WCR Fillmores in a Les Paul and they sound great for rock tones. There is an example in the sound clips that I posted last week under the Z-28/Prescription heading.

I just posted the following on the recent "Better Humbuckers" thread: "You can't go wrong with Jim Wagner's WCRs. If you want the closest thing to vintage PAF sound, his Crossroads PUs are about the sweetest out there, and I really mean 'sweet' - the sound is rich and complex and ... well, sweet. You can step up in output little by little by trying the Darkburst, then the Fillmore, then the Godwood (used to be Goodwood). There are also specialty sets like the BetSet and the Moore/Green. Check them out at www.wcrguitar.com"I have a set of Crossroads in my LP and Crossroads neck & middle + Darkburst bridge in my 3 PU SG."

I wanted to try new pickups in my R8, but decided to go with a RS kit first.

Just sourced a '59 neck and PG bridge on the cheap.
If I had all of my druthers, I might try WCRs at some point. There are a lot of good pickups out there.
