I love that Texas Tone I can get pretty close with my Suhr V60 pickups, I just wondered if anyone has tried these?

I have a Xotic AC, RC, BB and a fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mos, and an OCD. I play a Maz 18 either through 2 * 10 or 2 - 1 * 12 Orange Cabinets. The Suhr V-60's are extremely close to the tone I want. How do the Rio Grande compare to the Suhr's ?

I've got a Dual Calibrated set in a Strat and love'em. Beautiful clear sound. Bridge pickup is really usable, almost sounds like a bucker. I shielded and star grounded everything and it is dead quiet.

Okay, I just got back from lunch. I bought a Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy. I'm gonna do some pickup shuffling on the weekend. I'll install the the Rio Grande in the neck position of the American Strat. Then I'll move the Suhr V57 in the Suhr guitar neck position to the middle position, then install the V60 from the American strat into the neck position on the Suhr. This should then allow me to finally install the backplate on my Suhr guitar. I feel like a mad scientist of sorts. I'll post the results on Monday if anyone is interested.

im sorry, they ate meaning they had some meat to 'em, shur's you have are more vintage,, try this ....turn your amp down and turn the volume up on the xoctic pedals, very cool, i love the v60's I got tired just reading your last post, that alot of work, im not touching my suhr, i may sell it, it has 2 John Jorgensen single coils and a full size humbucker, has the suhr silent coil system, paid 2800.00, scared im gonna scratch it

one more thing, if u move the v57 to the middle postion of the shur, dont wire it the same as u took it off, u wont get the 2-4 postion quack and the noise reduction, i belive, just reverse the 2 wires . Lindy Fralin wired me a set of pickups for my nashville tele, he forgot it had a middle pickup and just gave me a regular blues special strat pickup for the middle, he said just reverse the wires or he will wind me a whole new set, so he wound me a new set, cause the bridge pickup was wired different, still had noise, took awhile but he made good and that guitar screamed If you are lookin for non noiseless pickups [single coil] he has many flavors, lil more expensive but man do they talk, nothing compares to his pickups

I'm gonna try that tonight... Oh I get the ate reference now. Great now I know the lingo. Its alot of work, but its worth it in the long run. I feel like I'm really learning alot bought guitars in the process. The thought of screwing something up/scratching the guitar ran through my mind as well. Thats why all new stuff is being done to the American strat. And thats why I'm taking my time. Slow but sure.... You should setup a Photobucket account, I'm really curious to see what your guitar looks like.

Muy Grande Tele Bridge. Muy MEAT on those tones! I would have went with a muy neck, but already had a Fender Texas Special in the neck that I liked.
I also have a BBQ bucker set for a Les Paul Jr that I haven't installed yet.

But to ME, a tele & strat neck pickup sound alot alike anyway. The big difference that makes a strat sound like a strat is the middle pickup & those combinations that go with it. I know there's more to it than that, but... I guess what I'm saying is the TS strat neck is probably voiced alot like the TS tele neck, and they will sound similar... but I don't think the difference is tone from strat neck to tele neck is that big a difference...IMHO. I wouldn't worry at all about your tele sounding like a strat.

A vintage Tall Boy in the neck position of a strat is my favorite sounding strat pickup by far!

I had a Big Top set in my strat for awhile. For me they were too hot. I prefer the Texas specials in my Tele. It allows me to use the amp for OD instead of driving it with pickups.
